Radiation-induced vascular changes in the intracranial irradiation field in medulloblastoma survivors: An MRI study

2019

While survival times after treatment of medulloblastoma are increasing, little is known about radiochemotherapy (RCT)-induced cerebrovascular changes. High resolution vessel wall imaging (VWI) sequences are an emerging tool for the evaluation of cerebrovascular diseases. We performed VWI in medulloblastoma long-term survivors to screen for late sequelae of RCT.Twenty-two pediatric medulloblastoma survivors (mean age 25.8 years (10-53 years); 16.3 years (mean) post primary RCT (range 1-45 years)) underwent 2D VWI-MRI. Vessel wall thickening, contrast enhancement and luminal narrowing were analyzed. The findings were correlated with the patients' radiation protocols.Vessel wall changes were o…

Red and far-red sun-induced chlorophyll fluorescence as a measure of plant photosynthesis

2015

Remote estimation of Sun-induced chlorophyll fluorescence emitted by terrestrial vegetation can provide an unparalleled opportunity to track spatiotemporal variations of photosynthetic efficiency. Here we provide the first direct experimental evidence that the two peaks of the chlorophyll fluorescence spectrum can be accurately mapped from high-resolution radiance spectra and that the signal is linked to variations in actual photosynthetic efficiency. Red and far red fluorescence measured using a novel airborne imaging spectrometer over a grass carpet treated with an herbicide known to inhibit photosynthesis was significantly higher than the corresponding signal from an equivalent untreated…

The infrared spectrum of CH 3 D between 900 and 3200 cm −1 : extended assignment and modeling

2000

Abstract The high resolution infrared spectrum of CH 3 D in the region from 900 to 3200 cm −1 has been analyzed on the basis of Fourier transform spectra recorded at Kitt Peak and at Giessen. A theoretical model for an effective hamiltonian in terms of irreducible tensor operators recently adapted to symmetric top molecules has been used in order to consider simultaneously all available transitions between the lowest three polyads of the molecule: the Ground State (G.S.), the Triad (three interacting fundamental bands in the 8 μm region) and the Nonad (nine interacting bands in the 4 μm region). A preliminary simultaneous fit of 3467 Triad–G.S., 5208 Nonad–G.S., and 2487 Nonad–Triad (hot ba…

A rapid and sensitive method for the control of selected regulated and emerging mycotoxins in beer

2018

A fast method using automated online solid-phase extraction (SPE) coupled to liquid-chromatography/high resolution mass spectrometric (LC-HRMS) detection for the determination of 12 mycotoxins in beer was developed and fully validated according to the performance criteria set in the European Union (EU) guidelines. Mycotoxin detection was achieved by full-scan HRMS with electrospray ionisation in positive ion mode within 13 min. No significant matrix interferences were observed. The lowest limits of detection (LODs) were achieved for emerging mycotoxins (beauvericin and enniatins) and ochratoxin A at levels between 0.01 and 0.02 μg/l, while the overall LODs were in the range of 0.01-0.30 μg…

Sample preparation methods for the determination of pesticides in foods using CE-UV/MS.

2010

Much progress has been made in pesticide analysis over the past decade, during this time hyphenated techniques involving highly efficient separation with sensitive detection have become the techniques of choice. Among these, methods based on separation with mass spectrometric detection have resulted in greater likelihood of identification and are acknowledged to be extremely useful and authoritative methods for the determination of pesticide residues but the inherent advantages of the use of CE as a separation technique are well-known and can be summarized as high separation efficiency, low analysis time, high resolution power, and low consumption of samples and reagents. Although UV is the…

The metabolic profile of lemon juice by proton HR-MAS NMR: the case of the PGI Interdonato Lemon of Messina

2015

We have studied by means of High Resolution Magic Angle Spinning Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (HR-MAS NMR) the metabolic profile of the famous Sicilian lemon known as 'Interdonato Lemon of Messina PGI'. The PGI Interdonato Lemon of Messina possesses high organoleptic and healthy properties and is recognised as one of the most nutrient fruits. In particular, some of its constituents are actively studied for their chemo-preventive and therapeutic properties. In this paper, we have determined by means of HR-MAS NMR spectroscopy the molar concentration of the main metabolites constituent the juice of PGI Interdonato Lemon of Messina in comparison with that of the not-PGI Interdonato Lemon of Turk…

Future Trends in Confocal Laser Endomicroscopy: Improved Imaging Quality and Immunoendoscopy

2007

Confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) is a powerful new technique that permits subsurface imaging at high resolution during ongoing endoscopy in the upper and lower GI tract [1]. Here, we will discuss future trends in CLE and their potential application in clinical practice. In particular, we will focus on molecular imaging using labelled antibodies for immunoendoscopy.
