A fuzzy-logic based evolutionary multiobjective approach for automated distribution networks management

In this paper, a methodology to treat constrained scheduling problems based on the repeated application of a fuzzy-logic-based multiobjective algorithm is presented. The application domain is that of automated distribution systems management. In particular, the problem of voltage regulation and power loses minimization is here considered. New Multilevel Inverter Topology with Reduced Component Count

This paper introduces a new topology of modular multilevel inverters, being suitable in medium and high voltage applications. As compared to the existing circuits, the proposed topology has advantages of high ‘levels/components’ ratio, increasing the output voltage levels without increasing the voltage stress across the used switches, structure simplicity, isolation features, and modularity. A pulsed high-voltage decelerator system to deliver low-energy antiprotons

International audience; The GBAR (Gravitational Behavior of Antihydrogen at Rest) experiment at CERN requires efficient deceleration of 100 keV antiprotons provided by the new ELENA synchrotron ring to synthesize antihydrogen. This is accomplished using electrostatic deceleration optics and a drift tube that is designed to switch from -99 kV to ground when the antiproton bunch is inside – essentially a charged particle “elevator” – producing a 1 keV pulse. We describe the simulation, design, construction and successful testing of the decelerator device at -92 kV on-line with antiprotons from ELENA.

Ion-Induced Energy Pulse Mechanism for Single-Event Burnout in High-Voltage SiC Power MOSFETs and Junction Barrier Schottky Diodes

Heavy-ion data suggest that a common mechanism is responsible for single-event burnout (SEB) in 1200-V power MOSFETs and junction barrier Schottky (JBS) diodes. Similarly, heavy-ion data suggest a common mechanism is also responsible for leakage current degradation in both devices. This mechanism, based on ion-induced, highly localized energy pulses, is demonstrated in simulations and shown to be capable of causing degradation and SEB for both the MOSFETs and JBS diodes.

Efficiency and timing performance of the MuPix7 high-voltage monolithic active pixel sensor

2018

The MuPix7 is a prototype high voltage monolithic active pixel sensor with 103 times 80 um2 pixels thinned to 64 um and incorporating the complete read-out circuitry including a 1.25 Gbit/s differential data link. Using data taken at the DESY electron test beam, we demonstrate an efficiency of 99.3% and a time resolution of 14 ns. The efficiency and time resolution are studied with sub-pixel resolution and reproduced in simulations.

High voltage conditioning of the electrostatic deflector of MARA

Abstract MARA is a new recoil mass separator in the Accelerator Laboratory of University of Jyvaskyla (JYFL-ACCLAB) with a mass resolving power of 250 and an ion-optical configuration of QQQD E D M . In this paper the construction, control and conditioning of its electrostatic deflector are described. The deflector was designed for voltages up to 500 kV accross the gap, corresponding to a 3.6 MV/m field, to accomodate fusion reactions with inverse kinematics. Titanium electrodes with a beam dump opening in the anode are used. T2-beta-spectroscopy at KATRIN and the challenge of controlling the electrostatic potentials

Abstract The KATRIN-Collaboration at KIT-Karlsruhe is setting up a huge electrostatic spectrometer in order to search for the absolute value of the neutrino mass from the beta-spectrum of molecular tritium with a sensitivity limit of 0.2 eV. A frequency-output fiber optic voltage sensor with temperature compensation for power systems

Abstract We present a frequency-output fiber optic voltage sensor for power systems with temperature compensated response. The sensor employs PZT-type ceramic tubes, which are interrogated by a length of single-mode fiber coiled onto the tubes and a Mach–Zehnder interferometer. The combination of piezoelectric tubes with properties exhibiting opposite behavior to temperature changes is successfully exploited to passively compensate the temperature sensitivity of the sensor. LEGRI has been operating successfully on MINISAT-01 since its switch-on the 22nd of May 1997. HouseKeeping (HK) data have been continuously received for nearly two years by LEGRI SOC in Valencia, and subsequently checked on a daily basis and then stored for long term monitoring analysis. LEGRI HouseKeeping data include three critical operating parameters: temperature, power and polarisation voltages. Six temperature sensors are spread over the different LEGRI units: Detector Unit, Data Processing Unit, High Voltage Unit and Star Sensor. Voltages are measured at eight different points.
