Equilibrium swelling and solvation studies on crosslinked polyacrylamides

Polyacrylamide (PA) crosslinked with four different crosslinking agents, triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA), N,N′-methylene bisacrylamide (NNMBA), hexanediol dimethacrylate (HDDMA) and divinylbenzene (DVB), with mole percents ranging from 5 to 20, was prepared by solution polymerization and subjected to swelling and solvation studies. Solubility parameters and cohesive energy density were determined from swelling studies. Molecular weight between crosslinks for these systems were determined by Flory–Rehner analysis. In order to investigate the influences of different end-groups on oligomer miscibility with other substances, oligo(propylene glycol)s bearing OH groups (OPG-OH) studied in the previous paper2, were acetylated at both ends (OPG-AC). The limits of miscibility of OPG-AC with oligo(dimethylsiloxane) (ODMS) were measured turbidimetrically. A simple and reliable method for the determination of the critical points from turbidity data is presented. The observed upper critical temperatures (Tc) increase with degree of oligomerization of ODMS (ranging from 1 to 5), whereas Tc shows a minimum when the degree of oligomerization of the OPG-AC is raised (from 1 to 57,5). W filozofii politycznej i społecznej opis relacji pomiędzy jednostką a wspólnotą należy do dwóch przeciwstawnych nurtów: indywidualizmu i kolektywizmu a skrajnych postaciach między libertynizmem a komunitaryzmem. Powyższy temat wpisuje się w dyskusję na temat tego, w jaki sposób wspólno- ta wpływa na konkretnego człowieka i odwrotnie. Zostało to uczynione jednak z innej perspektywy. Ethyl hexanoate transfer in paper and plastic food packaging by sorption and permeation experiments

The barrier properties of one treated paper packaging and one standard plastic film (bi-oriented polypropylene, biOPP) were assessed for ethyl hexanoate. Three methods based either on sorption (gravimetry and micro-atmosphere-derived method) or permeation kinetic determination were used in controlled conditions of aroma vapor concentration (107 Pa), temperature (25 degrees C) and relative humidity (about 0 %). Ethyl hexanoate solubility values were on the same range of magnitude for both packaging films in spite of their different nature and composition.
