On the Road to MM′X Polymers: Redox Properties of Heterometallic Ni···Pt Paddlewheel Complexes

On the quest of heterometallic mixed-valence MM'X chains, we have prepared two stable discrete bimetallic compounds: the reduced (PPN)[ClNi(μ-OSCPh)4Pt] (PPN = bis(triphenylphosphine)iminium; OSCPh = benzothiocarboxylato) and the oxidized [(H2O)Ni(μ-OSCPh)4PtCl] species. The role of the aqua and chlorido axial ligands is crucial to facilitate oxidation of the {Ni(μ-OSCPh)4Pt} core. Experimental and theoretical analyses indicate that a NiPt-Cl/Cl-NiPt isomerization process occurs in the oxidized species. The carbenoid-type (cb-type) 32CA reaction of 1,1-difluoroated azomethine ylide (DFAY) with phenylpropynal has been studied using the molecular electron density theory (MEDT). Electron localization function (ELF) characterizes DFAY as a carbenoid species participating in cb-type 32CA reactions. The supernucleophilic character of DFAY and the strong electrophilic character of the ynal cause this polar 32CA reaction to have an unappreciable barrier; the reaction, which is highly exothermic, presents total chemo- and regioselectivity. Acylchalcogenourea Complexes of Silver(I)

Acylthio- or acylselenoureas react with silver(I) oxide to form tetranuclear silver(I) complexes containing the deprotonated acylchalcogenourea ligands bound to the silver atoms through the chalcogen and oxygen atoms. These tetrasilver(I) species react with either 4 or 8 equiv. of a phosphine to afford either dinuclear silver(I) phosphine complexes or tetrahedral silver diphosphine complexes. In these compounds, the acylchalcogenourea ligands form six-membered rings by coordinating to the metal atom through the chalcogen and oxygen atoms. A P-chirogenic β-aminophosphine synthesis by diastereoselective reaction of the α-metallated PAMP–borane complex with benzaldimine

International audience; The diastereoselective synthesis of a P-chirogenic β-aminophosphine ligand with carbon–carbon bond formation of the ethano bridge in a 3:1 ratio via reaction of an α-metallated P-chirogenic phosphine borane with a benzaldimine is described. The diastereoselectivity is attributed to a transition state where the lithium cation chelates the phosphine borane carbanion and the nitrogen of the imine and the attack of the C@N occurs on the face opposite to the P–B bond, due to its interaction with the antibonding P–B bond. Palladium Catalyzed [3+2] Cycloaddition of Vinyl Aziridine and Indane-1,3-diones: Diastereo- and Enantioselective Access to Spiro-Pyrrolidines

A mild and efficient palladium-catalyzed [3+2] cycloaddition of vinylaziridine and indane-1,3-diones has been realized. The resulting spiro-pyrrolidines were provided in excellent yields and, with the introduction of the leucine-derived phosphine ligand, moderate to good enantio­- and diastereoselectivities.

Synthesis of 1,3-bis(trimethylcyclam) and 1,3-bis(trimethylcyclen) substituted benzenes

Pd-catalyzed amination of 1,3-dibromobenzene with N,N',N''-trimethylcyclam and N,N',N''-trimethylcyclen provided corresponding 1,3-bis(tetraazamacrocyclic) derivatives of benzene in 25-32% yields. The dependence of the products yields on the phosphine ligand applied (BINAP, DavePHOS) as well as on the stoichiometry of starting compounds was established. Scope and limitations for the synthesis of N-phenyl and N-(3-bromophenyl) derivatives of trimethylcyclam and trimethylcyclen were demonstrated.

Electrochemical meso-functionalization of magnesium(II) porphine

International audience; Regioselective meso-functionalization of the totally unsubstituted magnesium(II) porphine was performed by controlled potential electrolysis with pyridine and triphenylphosphine as nucleophiles leading to the original pyridinium and phosphonium substituted derivatives, respectively. The crystallographic structure of the latter is described as the only meso-phosphonium porphyrin reported to date.

Supramolecular Assembly of Organophosphonate Diesters Using Paddle-Wheel Complexes: First Examples in Porphyrin Series

The reactions of dicopper tetrapivalate complex Cu2(μ-OOC-t-Bu)4(NCMe)2 (1) with triphenylphosphine oxide and diethyl phosphite allow paddle-wheel (PW) copper(II) complexes with phosphorus-containing axial ligands (2, 3) to be obtained. When meso-bis(diethoxyphosphoryl)porphyrins 4M were employed in this ligand exchange reaction, a series of one-dimensional (1D) homo- and heterometallic coordination polymers 5M composed of PW subunits and organophosphonate diesters were prepared and characterized by means of single crystal X-ray analysis. Electrochemical and spectroscopic studies of poly(diethoxyphosphoryl)porphyrins

Abstract The synthesis and electrochemical characterization of two related series of porphyrins bearing diethoxyphosphoryl groups are reported. One group of compounds is represented as (T( p -R)PP)M where R = phos = P(O)(OEt) 2 and M = Zn(II) or H 2 while the other is represented as (di( p -R)Pdi(phos)P)M where R = P(O)(OEt) 2 , H or CH 3 and M = Zn(II) or H 2 . Each porphyrin was investigated by electrochemistry and thin-layer spectroelectrochemistry in CH 2 Cl 2 , CDCl 3 , CHCl 3 or PhCN containing tetra- n -butylammonium perchlorate (TBAP) as supporting electrolyte.
