The present article examines the historical narrative proposed by modernization theory about the recent Spanish past. Its assumptions and consequences for historical research focused on the 19th century are described in order to understand the lack of intellectual exchange among historians and sociologists in the Spanish academic world. This article analyses the use of the term “‘political oeconomy” in the Wealth of Nations, considered by many the founding text of the discipline of Political Economy. It shows that Adam Smith could not accept the use of the term “political oeconomy” that had been made by other authors to indicate the subject matter of his scientific inquiry, devoted to the nature and causes of the wealth of nations; he used the term “political oeconomy” as a synonym for economic policy, especially in the fourth book of the Wealth of Nations. ‘A Hellish Nightmare’: The Swedish Press and the Construction of Early Holocaust Narratives, 1945–1950

This study examines how the Swedish press responded to and portrayed the Holocaust immediately after the war. The liberation of the camps, the role and guilt of ordinary Germans, the Nuremberg trials and the ongoing problem of Jewish DPs in Europe were the most important issues on the basis of which the Swedish press had shaped the early post-war view of the Holocaust. Moreover, the fate of the Jews under Nazi Germany formed an important element of such reporting. Resum: Aquest article analitza els verbs semblar(-se), ressemblar i assemblar(-se) en els diccionaris institucionals de l’IEC i de l’AVL. La informació que podem obtenir d’aquests diccionaris posa de manifest que hi ha diferències en la descripció semàntica dels verbs. Cada obra descriu i jerarquitza les remissions en atenció als usuaris més pròxims i en algun cas n’hi ha que exclou solucions històriques. Amb l’objectiu d’obtenir una informació més profunda d’ aquests verbs, estudiem quins són els seus usos semàntics i sintàctics en català antic. Historical research into the nuclear industry has focussed upon military and commercial aspects of the technology whilst ignoring fuel. This article discusses nuclear fuel, the resource at the centre of the industry and the role superpower politics played in its supply. Starting with the context of superpower competition, we examine the spread of nuclear technology from its beginnings in post-war Britain via West Germany in the 1950s to Finland in the 1960s and 1970s. AbstractThe present paper reports one of the first studies on the identification of natural resins and balsams in modern era drug formulations. Gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was applied to investigate the composition of ancient remedies and pharmaceutical formulations coming from the Spezieria di Santa Maria della Scala in Rome, founded at the end of the seventeenth century by the Discalced Carmelites. The obtained results highlight the presence of complex mixtures containing resinaceous and lipidic-based compounds. El estudio fraseológico del español carece todavía hoy de una obra lexicográfica en la que sus unidades se vean descritas en su historia. Aunque el DHISFRAES llena parcialmente ese vacío, no pocos trabajos han podido detallar la historia de un número importante de unidades fraseológicas. El presente estudio pretende adherirse a ellos, explorando desde los preceptos de la fraseología histórica las unidades fraseológicas que tienen como núcleo andana y traque, ambas palabras diacríticas.

Promocijas darba tēma ir vēstures priekšstatu par Livoniju izcelsmes un formēšanās procesa īpatnības 13. gadsimta historiogrāfijā. Izpētes fokusā ir hronikas, annāles un citi historiogrāfijas teksti, kas radīti ārpus Livonijas laikā starp 1195./1196. un 1280. gadu. Viduslaiku Eiropas 13. gadsimta historiogrāfijā samērā reti sastopami notikumu apraksti, kas atspoguļo Livonijas sociālo, politisko un kultūras integrāciju viduslaiku pasaulē. Šie hroniku un annāļu teksti uzskatāmi parāda, ar kādu nolūku, kādiem literāriem līdzekļiem un kādu mērķi senie autori veidoja savus Livonijas pagātnes konceptus.
