Isotropic stochastic flow of homeomorphisms on Sd for the critical Sobolev exponent

2006

Abstract In this work, we shall deal with the critical Sobolev isotropic Brownian flows on the sphere S d . Based on previous works by O. Raimond and LeJan and Raimond (see [O. Raimond, Ann. Inst. H. Poincare 35 (1999) 313–354] and [Y. LeJan, O. Raimond, Ann. of Prob. 30 (2002) 826–873], we prove that the associated flows are flows of homeomorphisms.

Bi-Sobolev extensions

2022

We give a full characterization of circle homeomorphisms which admit a homeomorphic extension to the unit disk with finite bi-Sobolev norm. As a special case, a bi-conformal variant of the famous Beurling-Ahlfors extension theorem is obtained. Furthermore we show that the existing extension techniques such as applying either the harmonic or the Beurling-Ahlfors operator work poorly in the degenerated setting. This also gives an affirmative answer to a question of Karafyllia and Ntalampekos.

Approximation of W1, Sobolev homeomorphism by diffeomorphisms and the signs of the Jacobian

2018

Abstract Let Ω ⊂ R n , n ≥ 4 , be a domain and 1 ≤ p [ n / 2 ] , where [ a ] stands for the integer part of a. We construct a homeomorphism f ∈ W 1 , p ( ( − 1 , 1 ) n , R n ) such that J f = det ⁡ D f > 0 on a set of positive measure and J f 0 on a set of positive measure. It follows that there are no diffeomorphisms (or piecewise affine homeomorphisms) f k such that f k → f in W 1 , p .

Regularity of the inverse of a Sobolev homeomorphism in space

2006

Let Ω ⊂ Rn be open. Given a homeomorphism of finite distortion with |Df| in the Lorentz space Ln−1, 1 (Ω), we show that and f−1 has finite distortion. A class of counterexamples demonstrating sharpness of the results is constructed.

Invertibility of Sobolev mappings under minimal hypotheses

2010

Abstract We prove a version of the Inverse Function Theorem for continuous weakly differentiable mappings. Namely, a nonconstant W 1 , n mapping is a local homeomorphism if it has integrable inner distortion function and satisfies a certain differential inclusion. The integrability assumption is shown to be optimal.

Flow of Homeomorphisms and Stochastic Transport Equations

2007

Abstract We consider Stratonovich stochastic differential equations with drift coefficient A 0 satisfying only the condition of continuity where r is a positive C 1 function defined on a neighborhood ]0, c 0] of 0 such that (Osgood condition), and s → r(s) is decreasing while s → sr(s 2) is increasing. We prove that the equation defines a flow of homeomorphisms if the diffusion coefficients A 1,…, A N are in . If , we prove limit theorems for Wong–Zakai approximation as well as for regularizing the drift A 0. As an application, we solve a class of stochastic transport equations.

Topological classification of 4-dimensional complete intersections

1996

Let X,,(d) C C P "+r denote a complete intersection, the transversal intersection of r hypersurfaces in C P ~+r defined by r homogeneous polynomials of degrees (d l , . . . ,dr) =: d, with dld2...d,. =: d the total degree. It is well-known that the diffeomorphism type of X,,(d) is determined by n and d. In [7] and [8], Libgober and Wood showed that in dimension n -~ 2, there exist k distinct multidegrees ibr any integer k 6 N such that the corresponding complete intersections are all diffeomorphic. For n = 1,3, the diffeomorphism classification of Xn(d) is well-known by surface theory and the classification of 1-connected six-manifolds [12] respectively. For 7z = 2, at least the topological…
