Homing and memory patterns of human gammadelta T cells in physiopathological situations.

Vgamma9Vdelta2 are a heterogeneous population of T cells and comprise distinct naive, memory and effector populations that can be distinguished on the basis of surface marker expression and effector functions. We review here these recently studied features of Vgamma9Vdelta2 T lymphocyte biology and the roles they play in infectious and autoimmune diseases.

New Results on Vector and Homing Vector Automata

We present several new results and connections between various extensions of finite automata through the study of vector automata and homing vector automata. We show that homing vector automata outperform extended finite automata when both are defined over $ 2 \times 2 $ integer matrices. We study the string separation problem for vector automata and demonstrate that generalized finite automata with rational entries can separate any pair of strings using only two states. The electrical activity of about 30% of a homing pigeon’s pineal cells can be altered by changing the horizontal or vertical component of the natural magnetic field, using two pairs of Helmholtz coils. The cells respond to a rapid and/or gradual change in the magnetic field with either excitation or inhibition. In some of the sensitive cells the responses to magnetic field changes could not be repeated.

Vδ2 T lymphocytes recognize nonpeptidic antigens without presentation by MHC molecules and mount both immediate effector functions and memory responses after microbial infection. However, how Vδ2 T cells mediate different facets of a memory response remains unknown.
