Objectives: A comparison was made between the electromyographic patterns specific to patient with temporomandibular disorders and that of normal healthy patients. Study design: Electromyographic tests were carried out during rest and function of the masseter muscles and anterior temporalis muscles in a homogeneous group consisting of 95 patients for whom such pathology and its different degree of severity had been previously studied by means of a Helkimo Test. A Community in Life and Death: The Late Neolithic Megalithic Tomb at Alto de Reinoso (Burgos, Spain)

The analysis of the human remains from the megalithic tomb at Alto de Reinoso represents the widest integrative study of a Neolithic collective burial in Spain. Combining archaeology, osteology, molecular genetics and stable isotope analysis (87Sr/86Sr, δ15N, δ13C) it provides a wealth of information on the minimum number of individuals, age, sex, body height, pathologies, mitochondrial DNA profiles, kinship relations, mobility, and diet. The grave was in use for approximately one hundred years around 3700 cal BC, thus dating from the Late Neolithic of the Iberian chronology. At the bottom of the collective tomb, six complete and six partial skeletons lay in anatomically correct positions. …

In many countries around the globe, Muslims not only form a statistical religious minority, but also are mainly regarded as a homogeneous group by the average citizen, the press and politicians. Concepts of Muslim diaspora seem to frequently reinforce this idea, implying that Muslims are building a global community endangering supposedly peaceful cohabitation within nation-states. In contrast, this article, based on a case study in Argentina, shows that diasporic communities can be fruitfully conceptualised as socio-cultural orders with a special ‘atmosphere’, which is formed by the emotional connections between group members and their surroundings, which transcend borders of nation-states.…

We wstępnej części artykułu zostaną zaprezentowane kategorie OBCY, INNY oraz SWÓJ w różnych konfiguracjach (opozycja komplementarna, triada), obecnych w dyskursie tożsamościowym. Następnie przedstawione zostaną determinanty tożsamości: konfesja i język grupy mieszkańców Zelowa – potomków czeskich emigrantów religijnych. W końcowej części artykułu podkreśla się, że obraz potomków czeskich emigrantów jest zmienny w czasie: początkowo była to grupa homogeniczna pod względem wyznaniowym, etnicznym i językowym, a obecnie jest grupą zasymilowaną językowo i kulturowo.

We prove a Rademacher-type theorem for Lipschitz mappings from a subset of a Carnot group to a Banach homogeneous group, equipped with a suitably weakened Radon-Nikodym property. We provide a metric area formula that applies to these mappings and more generally to all almost everywhere metrically differentiable Lipschitz mappings defined on a Carnot group. peerReviewed

This paper examines the differences in the asset return comovement of the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China), the other developed economies in their regions (Canada, Hong Kong and Australia) and the major industrialized economies (the U.K., Germany and Japan) with respect to the U.S. for different return periods. The novelty of the paper is that the stock return indices are decomposed to several timescales using wavelet analysis and that the results are further used as inputs for the dynamic conditional correlation (DCC) framework, which is used as a measure of comovement. We study left-invariant distances on Lie groups for which there exists a one-parameter family of homothetic automorphisms. The main examples are Carnot groups, in particular the Heisenberg group with the standard dilations. We are interested in criteria implying that, locally and away from the diagonal, the distance is Euclidean Lipschitz and, consequently, that the metric spheres are boundaries of Lipschitz domains in the Euclidean sense. In the first part of the paper, we consider geodesic distances. Sub-Finsler Horofunction Boundaries of the Heisenberg Group

We give a complete analytic and geometric description of the horofunction boundary for polygonal sub-Finsler metrics---that is, those that arise as asymptotic cones of word metrics---on the Heisenberg group. We develop theory for the more general case of horofunction boundaries in homogeneous groups by connecting horofunctions to Pansu derivatives of the distance function.
