Tuning the semiconducting nature of bis(phthalocyaninato) holmium complexes via peripheral substituents
2012
The semiconducting properties of the heteroleptic and homoleptic bis(phthalocyaninato) holmium complexes bearing electron-withdrawing phenoxy substituents at the phthalocyanine periphery, namely Ho(Pc)[Pc(OPh)8] (1) and Ho[Pc(OPh)8]2 (2) [Pc = unsubstituted phthalocyaninate; Pc(OPh)8 = 2,3,9,10,16,17,23,24-octaphenoxyphthalocyaninate] have been investigated comparatively. Using a solution-based Quasi–Langmuir–Shafer (QLS) method, the thin solid films of the two compounds were fabricated. The structure and properties of the thin films were investigated by UV-vis absorption spectra, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Experimental results indicated that H-type molecular…
Green Light-Emitting Solid-State Electrochemical Cell Obtained from a Homoleptic Iridium(III) Complex Containing Ionically Charged Ligands
2006
An efficient bluish-green light-emitting Ir(III) complex was prepared by introducing charged side groups onto phenylpyridine ligands. Green light emission with a first maximum at 487 nm (CIE coordinates x = 0.337 and y = 0.501) was observed from a single layer light-emitting electrochemical cell using this new complex; this is the lowest wavelength observed so far for devices based on ionic transition metal complexes.
Metal complexes of a novel heterocyclic benzimidazole ligand formed by rearrangement-cyclization of the corresponding Schiff base. Electrosynthesis, …

The electrochemical oxidation of anodic metals (M = cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc and cadmium) in a solution of the ligand 1H-anthra[1,2-d]imidazol-6,11-dione-2-[2-hydroxyphenyl] [H2L] afforded homoleptic [ML] compounds. The addition to the electrochemical cell of coligands (L′) such as 2,2′-bipyridine (bpy) or 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) allowed the synthesis, in one step, of heteroleptic [MLL′] compounds. The crystal structures of H2L (1), [CoL(MeOH)]2 (2), [CoL(phen)]2 (3), [NiL(bpy)]2 (4), [CuL(bpy)] (5), [CuL(phen)] (6) and [CdL(bpy)]2 (7) have been determined by X-ray diffraction techniques. The crystal structures of 2, 3, 4 and 7 consist of dimeric species in which both metallic atoms …
Structural and Spectroscopic Studies of the PCP-Bridged Heavy Chalcogen-Centered Monoanions [HC(PPh2E)(PPh2)]− (E = Se, Te) and [HC(PR2E)2]− (E = Se,…
2009
Selenium- and tellurium-containing bis(diphenylphosphinoyl)methane monoanions were prepared by oxidation of the anion [HC(PPh2)2]− with elemental chalcogens. The selenium-containing isopropyl derivative was synthesized by generating [H2C(PiPr2)2] via a reaction between [H2C(PCl2)2] and 4 equiv of iPrMgCl prior to in situ oxidation with selenium followed by deprotonation with LiNiPr2. The solid-state structures of the lithium salts of the monochalcogeno anions TMEDA·Li[HC(PPh2E)(PPh2)] (E = Se (Li7a), E = Te (Li7b)) and the dichalcogeno anions TMEDA·Li[HC(PR2Se)2] (R = Ph (Li8a), iPr (Li8c)) revealed five- and six-membered LiEPCP and LiSePCPSe rings, respectively. The homoleptic group 12 com…

A Singular Noninterpenetrating Coordination Polymer with the Pt3O4 Structure Containing Naked [Na+]4 Units
2006
The homoleptic low-spin complex [Fe(L)3]2+ where L is the bisbidentate ligand 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione, coordinates Na+ ions via exo-oriented dione groups defining a three-dimensional cationic network {[Fe(L)3]4Na3}11+}n with Pt3O4 topology. The large volume generated by the network is filled with 11 perchlorate ions, 7 "NaClO4" ionic pairs, and 9 H2O molecules. Singular [Na+]4 units, in which the Na+ ions are practically uncoordinated, are formed.
Metallatomsynthese, Eigenschaften und Struktur von μ 2 ‐(η 3 ,η 3 ‐Toluol)bis[(η 6 ‐toluol)eisen](Fe‐Fe)
1995
Metal Atom Synthesis, Properties, and Structure of μ2(η3,η3-Toluene)bis[(η6-toluene)iron](Fe-Fe) Metal atom cocondensation of iron atoms and toluene produces the mononuclear iron sandwich compound [(η6-toluene)(η4-toluene)Fe] 1. Complex 1 reacts with a palette of N-containing ligands such as primary, secondary, and tertiary amines as well as pyridine, pyrrolidine, and tmeda to form highly reactive instable intermediates. In the temperature range from -80 to -30°C, the proposed intermediates react with toluene to form the first homoleptic Fe/toluene complex μ2-(η3η3-toluene)-bis[(η6-toluene)iron](Fe-Fe) (3) regardless which N-containing ligand is used. Additionally, 3 is also formed when eth…
Immobilization of copper complexes with (1,10-phenanthrolinyl)phosphonates on titania supports for sustainable catalysis
2017
Different strategies for the immobilization of copper complexes with 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) using the phosphonate anchoring group were investigated to prepare robust and porous heterogeneous catalysts. Homoleptic and heteroleptic copper(I) complexes with phen bearing the bis(trimethylsiloxy)phosphoryl anchoring group (Pphen-Si) at different positions of the phen backbone were prepared and covalently incorporated into titania (TiO2) xerogels by using the sol–gel process or grafted onto the surface of mesoporous TiO2 (SBET = 650 m2 g−1). Copper(I) bis(Pphen-Si) complexes were the only complexes that were successfully anchored onto the TiO2 surface because the heterogenization was often ac…
NMR-investigation of the mechanism of silver mercaptide thermolysis in amorphous polystyrene
2007
Polymer-embedded silver clusters have been prepared by thermal decomposition of silver dodecylmercaptide previously dissolved in amorphous polystyrene. The morphology and structure of silver clusters have been determined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and large angle X-ray diffractometry (XRD), respectively. The mechanism involved in the thermolysis reaction was elucidated by different NMR techniques. The thermolysis produced thiol-derivatized silver clusters (i.e., silver clusters coated with a self-organized thiol monolayer, Agx(SC12H25)y) and had the effect of increasing the branching degree of polystyrene due to enhanced cross-linking.
Single-molecule magnetic behavior in a neutral terbium(III) complex of a picolinate-based nitronyl nitroxide free radical
2011
The terdentate anionic picolinate-based nitronyl nitroxide (picNN) free radical forms neutral and robust homoleptic complexes with rare earth-metal ions. The nonacoordinated Tb3+ complex Tb(picNN)3• 6H2O is a single-molecule magnet with an activation energy barrier Δ = 22.8 ± 0.5 K and preexponential factor τ0 = (5.5 ± 1.1) × 10-9 s. It shows magnetic hysteresis below 1 K. © 2011 American Chemical Society.
