Honeycomb supported Co3O4/CeO2 catalysts for CO/CH4 emissions abatement: effect of low Pd-Pt content on the catalytic activity

Abstract A structured Co3O4–CeO2 composite oxide, containing 30% by weight of Co3O4, has been prepared over a cordieritic honeycomb support. The bimetallic, Pd–Pt catalyst has been obtained by impregnation of the supported Co3O4–CeO2 with Pd and Pt precursors in order to obtain a total metal loading of 50 g/ft3. CO, CH4 combined oxidation tests were performed over the catalyzed monoliths in realistic conditions, namely GHSV = 100,000 h−1 and reaction feed close to emission from bi-fuel vehicles. Topological edge states of nonequilibrium polaritons in hollow honeycomb arrays

We address topological currents in polariton condensates excited by uniform resonant pumps in finite honeycomb arrays of microcavity pillars with a hole in the center. Such currents arise under combined action of the spin–orbit coupling and Zeeman splitting, which breaks the time-reversal symmetry and opens a topological gap in the spectrum of the structure. The most representative feature of this structure is the presence of two interfaces, inner and outer ones, where the directions of topological currents are opposite. One of the most exciting subjects in solid state physics is a single layer of graphite which exhibits a variety of unconventional novel properties. The key feature of its electronic structure are linear dispersive bands which cross in a single point at the Fermi energy. This so-called Dirac cone is closely related to the surface states of the recently discovered topological insulators. This problem, first introduced by Orloff in 1974, is a generalization of both the Rural Postman Problem (RPP) and the Graphical Traveling Salesman Problem (GTSP) and, thus, is NP -hard. The properties of Kitaev materials are attracting ever increasing attention owing to their exotic properties. In realistic two-dimensional materials, Kitaev interaction is often accompanied by the Dzyloshinskii-Moriya interaction, which poses a challenge of distinguishing their magnitude separately. In this work, we demonstrate that it can be done by accessing magnonic transport properties. By studying honeycomb ferromagnets exhibiting Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya and Kitaev interactions simultaneously, we reveal non-trivial magnonic topological properties accompanied by intricate magnonic transport characteristics as given by thermal Hall and magnon Nernst effects. DNA origami is a widely used method for fabrication of custom-shaped nanostructures. However, to utilize such structures, one needs to controllably position them on nanoscale. Here we demonstrate how different types of 3D scaffolded multilayer origamis can be accurately anchored to lithographically fabricated nanoelectrodes on a silicon dioxide substrate by DEP. Straight brick-like origami structures, constructed both in square (SQL) and honeycomb lattices, as well as curved "C"-shaped and angular "L"-shaped origamis were trapped with nanoscale precision and single-structure accuracy. Finite-temperature geometric properties of the Kitaev honeycomb model

We study finite temperature topological phase transitions of the Kitaev's spin honeycomb model in the vortex-free sector with the use of the recently introduced mean Uhlmann curvature. We employ an appropriate Fermionisation procedure to study the system as a two-band p-wave superconductor described by a BdG Hamiltonian. This allows to study relevant quantities such as Berry and mean Uhlmann curvatures in a simple setting. The synthesis, structure, and magnetic properties of a novel oxalate-based bimetallic magnet obtained by using the chiral (S)-trimethyl-(1-phenyl-ethyl)-ammonium, ((S)-[PhCH(CH3)N(CH3)3](+)), cation as template is reported. This compound can be formulated as [(S)-[PhCH(CH3)N(CH3)3]][Mn(CH3CN)2/3Cr(ox)3] x (CH3CN)_(solvate), and it crystallizes in the chiral trigonal space group P3. It shows a distorted two-dimensional honeycomb structure formed by Mn(II) and Cr(III) ions connected through oxalate anions with [(S)-[PhCH(CH3)N(CH3)3](+) cations and solvent molecules intercalated between the oxalate layers. The persistence of the pathogen along the food chain can be associated with its ability to form biofilms on inert surfaces.
