Pseudospectrum of Reissner-Nordström black holes: Quasinormal mode instability and universality

Black hole spectroscopy is a powerful tool to probe the Kerr nature of astrophysical compact objects and their environment. The observation of multiple ringdown modes in gravitational waveforms could soon lead to high-precision gravitational spectroscopy, so it is critical to understand if the quasinormal mode spectrum is stable against perturbations. Scattering of Co-Current Surface Waves on an Analogue Black Hole

We report on what is to our knowledge the first scattering experiment of surface waves on an accelerating transcritical flow, which in the analogue gravity context is described by an effective spacetime with a black-hole horizon. This spacetime has been probed by an incident co-current wave, which partially scatters into an outgoing countercurrent wave on each side of the horizon. The measured scattering amplitudes are compatible with the predictions of the hydrodynamical theory, where the kinematical description in terms of the effective metric is exact.

Simultaneous optimization of harvest schedule and measurement strategy

In many recent studies, the value of forest inventory information in the harvest scheduling has been examined. Usually only the profitability of measuring simultaneously all the stands in the area is examined. Yet, it may be more profitable to concentrate the measurement efforts to some subset of them. In this paper, the authors demonstrate that stochastic optimization can be used for defining the optimal measurement strategy simultaneously with the harvest decisions. Although an increasing number of horizontal gene transfers have been reported in eukaryotes, experimental evidence for their adaptive value is lacking. Here, we report the recent transfer of a 158-kb genomic region between Torulaspora microellipsoides and Saccharomyces cerevisiae wine yeasts or closely related strains. This genomic region has undergone several rearrangements in S. cerevisiae strains, including gene loss and gene conversion between two tandemly duplicated FOT genes encoding oligopeptide transporters. This study examined talk by parents about the early years transitions of their children (n = 7) in the context of parental non-standard working hours and Finnish early childhood education and care (ECEC) services. Parents were interviewed at three time points: when their child was aged one, four, five or six years (a total of 21 interviews). The third interview was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kultura i edukacja ekonomiczna były tematem jednej z sesji panelowych X Kongresu Ekonomistów Polskich, który odbył się w listopadzie 2019 r. W nowej klasyfikacji dziedzin i dyscyplin naukowych wprowadzonej w Polsce w 2018 r. nie uwzględniono kategorii nauki ekonomiczne. Rodzi to pytanie o identyfikację kierunków i profili kształcenia ekonomicznego na poziomie wyższym, wpływając zarazem na kształtowanie oferty edukacyjnej uczelni. Kierunki ekonomiczne nadal cieszą się dużą popularnością, ale coraz częściej poddawany jest krytyce zakres i sposób kształcenia ekonomistów.
