L’invenzione riguarda la realizzazione di un pannello di vetromattoni montati “a secco” -da impiegare per la realizzazione di involucri edilizi traslucidi anche nel caso di edifici alti- che è in grado di rispondere adeguatamente alle sollecitazioni orizzontali (quali quelle dovute a vento e sisma) grazie all’applicazione della tecnica della precompressione mondirezionale. The invention is related to the construction of a glassblock panel “dry assembled” that can be used to build translucent building envelope even in high-rise buildings. This panel is able to contrast the horizontal actions due to wind and earthquake by means of the application of unidirectional pre-stressing technique. To overcame the limits due to the “wet assembly” system traditionally used to assemble the glassblocks the use of prestressing technique allow the panels to have an adequate mechanical resistance against the actions perpendicular to their installation plane. In this configuration the mechanical resistance of the glassblocks is exploited. The unidirectional prestressing (along the prevalent dimension of the panel) is obtained through the grip of the nuts inserted in the steel bars that are housed inside the glassblocks supporting profiles positioned in the vertical cavities between the glassblocks and passing through the horizontal profiles useful to separate glassblock rows from each other. The proper nuts grip opposing to the steel plates positioned at the top and bottom of the panel allow to prestress the panel. Factors affecting the interaction of the active cultivator paw with the soil environment are considered in this article. It was established that the active oscillating effect of tillage machines on the environment leads to reduction in its traction characteristics, and the design of symmetrical movable paw is capable of self-oscillation in a horizontal plane. Phylogenetic analysis of the isopenicillin-N-synthetase horizontal gene transfer.

A phylogenetic study of the isopenicillin-N-synthetase (IPNS) gene sequence from prokaryotic and lower eukaryotic producers of beta-lactam antibiotics by means of a maximum-likelihood approach has been carried out. After performing an extensive search, rather than invoking a global molecular clock, the results obtained are best explained by a model with three rates of evolution. Grouped in decreasing order, these correspond to A. nidulans and then to the rest of the eukaryotes and prokaryotes, respectively. Plasmid conjugation from Proteobacteria as evidence for the origin of xenologous genes in Cyanobacteria

Comparative genomics have shown that 5% of Synechococcus elongatus PCC 7942 genes are of probable proteobacterial origin. To investigate the role of interphylum conjugation in cyanobacterial gene acquisition, we tested the ability of a set of prototype proteobacterial conjugative plasmids (RP4, pKM101, R388, R64, and F) to transfer DNA from Escherichia coli to S. elongatus. The evolutionary genetics of the hobo transposable element in the Drosophila melanogaster complex.

Hobo elements are a family of transposable elements found in Drosophila melanogaster and its three sibling species: D. simulans, D. mauritiana and D. sechellia. Studies in D. melanogaster have shown that hobo may be mobilized, and that the genetic effects of such mobilizations included the general features of hybrid dysgenesis: mutations, chromosomal rearrangements and gonadal dysgenis in F1 individuals. At the evolutionary level some hobo-hybridizing sequences have also been found in the other members of the melanogaster subgroup and in many members of the related montium subgroup. Presence of multiple group I introns closely related to bacteria and fungi in plastid 23S rRNAs of lichen-forming Trebouxia

The chloroplast-encoded large subunit ribosomal RNA gene of several free-living green algae contains group I introns at Escherichia coli genic positions 1917, 1931, 1951, and 2449. Herein we report the presence of group I introns at these positions within the chloroplast-encoded large subunit ribosomal RNA gene of several lichen-forming green algae belonging to the Trebouxia genus. AbstractLichens are valuable models in symbiosis research and promising sources of biosynthetic genes for biotechnological applications. Most lichenized fungi grow slowly, resist aposymbiotic cultivation, and are generally poor candidates for experimentation. Obtaining contiguous, high quality genomes for such symbiotic communities is technically challenging.
