Quality Management in Service Desk : How Does Service Desk Managers Define and Measure Quality
2018
Many public and private sector organisations are depending on IT services provided by external service providers. The quality of the service affects the customer satisfaction and consequently the customer behaviour. The concept of quality has many meanings in the literature. In this paper, we study how service desk managers perceive the concept of quality and how to manage it in an organisation which has adopted ITIL. Our findings indicate that the quality is seen only in terms of how the agreed service levels are achieved. This view excludes the quality of the processes used to deliver IT services. Quality measurements are reflecting the perception of the concept of quality. peerReviewed
Bilevel heat exchanger network synthesis with an interactive multi-objective optimization method
2012
Abstract Heat exchanger network synthesis (HENS) has been an active research area for more than 40 years because well-designed heat exchanger networks enable heat recovery in process industries in an energy- and cost-efficient manner. Due to ever increasing global competition and need to decrease the harmful effects done on the environment, there still is a continuous need to improve the heat exchanger networks and their synthesizing methods. In this work we present a HENS method that combines an interactive multi-objective optimization method with a simultaneous bilevel HENS method, where the bilevel part of the method is based on grouping of process streams and building aggregate streams …
Dynamic Sustainability. Sustainability Window Analysis of Chinese Poverty-Environment Nexus Development
2015
Sustainability Window is a new analysis tool for assessing the sustainability of development simultaneously in all of its three dimensions (environmental, economic, and social). The analysis method provides information of the maximum and minimum economic development that is required to maintain the direction of social and environmental development towards more sustainable targets. With the Sustainability Window method it is possible to easily analyze the sustainability using different indicators and different time periods making comparative analyses easy. The new method makes it also possible to analyze the dynamics of the sustainability and the changes over time in the width of the window.…
Social media users in search of ‘facts’: the Trade Union House fire case
2021
What factors influence users to believe the stories they find in social media, and what role do emotions play for users in concluding that a particular fact is ‘true’? This article examines one aspect of emotionalized communication in social networks in an information war context, namely, how social network users make decisions about the reliability of the information they receive. We employ a qualitative study of a single case – a discussion among Russian-speaking Livejournal.com and Facebook.com users of a tragic incident in Ukraine – the deadly fire that took place in the Odessa Trade Union House on 2 May, 2014. The relevancy of this case consists in how, for all its uniqueness as a trag…
Energy efficient model for biogas production in farm scale
2011
Energy efficient solutions for six farm biogas production was found by calculating mass and energy balance in different scenarios. Raw materials in biogas production were cow manure and grass silage that were produced in these farms. There were calculated mass and energy balances on average for one year biogas prouduction that consisted of grass silage production, raw material transportation and biogas production in the biogas plant. In addition, direct greenhouse gases from biogas production were estimated. The direct mass and energy flows were calculated. It turned out that one input energy unit can produce 5.0 to 5.5 energy units as heat and electricity. Biogas reactor consumed heat from…
Automatic evaluation of information provider reliability and expertise
2013
Published version of an article in the journal: World Wide Web. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11280-013-0249-x Q&A social media have gained a lot of attention during the recent years. People rely on these sites to obtain information due to a number of advantages they offer as compared to conventional sources of knowledge (e.g., asynchronous and convenient access). However, for the same question one may find highly contradicting answers, causing an ambiguity with respect to the correct information. This can be attributed to the presence of unreliable and/or non-expert users. These two attributes (reliability and expertise) significantly affect the quality o…
Publiskā iepirkuma un valsts atbalsta regulējumu problemātika Eiropas Savienības tiesībās
2017
2021
Based on a nationwide quantitative survey conducted on 2,000 households (including 1,000 demotorised households and 1,000 non-demotorised twin households), we propose to provide an overview of demotorisation in France. This survey by questionnaire was conducted during the winter of 2017-2018 with a panel of households representative of the French population (from the Metaskope panel of Kantar-TNS ex-TNS-Sofres). Combined with the ?Parc Auto? panel survey (Kantar-TNS for Ademe-CCFA-Ifsttar-DSR), this survey is an original source of data on the French demotorised households. From two multinomial logit regression models, for both active and retired populations, this data allows to highlight th…
Effect of temperature on anaerobic treatment of black water in UASB-septic tank systems
2007
The effect of northern European seasonal temperature changes and low temperature on the performance of upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB)-septic tanks treating black water was studied. Three UASB-septic tanks were monitored with different operational parameters and at different temperatures. The results indicated the feasibility of the UASB-septic tank for (pre)treatment of black water at low temperatures with respect to removal of suspended solids and dissolved organic material. Inoculum sludge had little effect on COD(ss) removal, though in the start-up phase some poorly adapted inoculum disintegrated and washed out, thus requiring consideration when designing the process. Removal of …
Towards a new protocol for field measurements of greenhouse gases from wastewater treatment plant
2016
Emissions into the atmosphere of greenhouse gases (GHGs), i.e., carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide from wastewater treatment plants are of increasing concern in the water industry. In order to produce useful and comparable information for monitoring, assessing and reporting GHG emissions from wastewater treatment plants, there is a crescent need for a general accepted methodology. This paper aims at proposing the first protocol for monitoring and accounting GHG emissions from wastewater treatment plants taking into account both direct and internal indirect emissions focusing on sections known to be major responsible of GHG emissions i.e. oxidation tanks and sludge digestion. The main…
