A new plant wide modelling approach for the reduction of greenhouse Gas emission from wastewater treatment plants

Recent studies about greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions show that sewer collection systems and wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are anthropogenic GHG potential sources. Therefore, they contribute to the climate change and air pollution. This increasing interest towards climate change has led to the development of new tools for WWTP design and management. This paper presents the first results of a research project aiming at setting-up an innovative mathematical model platform for the design and management of WWTPs. Importance of denitrifiers lacking the genes encoding the nitrous oxide reductase for N2O emissions from soil

Analyses of the complete genomes of sequenced denitrifying bacteria revealed that approximately 1/3 have a truncated denitrification pathway, lacking the nosZ gene encoding the nitrous oxide reductase. We investigated whether the number of denitrifiers lacking the genetic ability to synthesize the nitrous oxide reductase in soils is important for the proportion of N2O emitted by denitrification. Economic development and CSR assurance: Important drivers for carbon reporting… yet inefficient drivers for carbon management?

Abstract This study contributes to the current climate debate by shedding some light on the driving forces of the disclosure and management of carbon emissions in the context of developed and developing economies. Cosmopolitan pest species are ideal for studying how different agroecosystems affect population genetic structure within a species at different climatic extremes. Cote et al. (1) provided evidence that economic inequality moderates the effect of income on generosity. In their study, individuals with higher household income were less generous in a dictator game than poorer individuals only if they resided in a US state with comparatively large economic inequality. Postzygotic isolation between the two European subspecies of the house mouse: estimates from fertility patterns in wild and laboratory-bred hybrids

We assessed the fertility (reproductive success, litter size, testis weight, spermatocyte-to-spermatid ratio) of F 1 s and backcrosses between different wild-derived outbred and inbred strains of two mouse subspecies, Mus musculus domesticus and M. m. musculus. A significant proportion of the F 1 females between the outbred crosses did not reproduce, suggesting that female infertility was present. As the spermatocyte-to-spermatid ratio was correlated with testis weight, the latter was used to attribute a sterile vs. fertile phenotype to all males. The spatial dimension of the French private rental markets: Evidence from microgeographic data in 2015

International audience; This article draws on data collected by local rental observatories in 12 French urban units in 2015 to analyze the spatial dimension of hedonic rental prices in the private rental market through (i) the spatial heterogeneity between urban units and (ii) the wide variety of contextual and locational characteristics (socio-economic, environmental (dis)amenity, and accessibility) and flexible specifications to capture their potential non-linear influence on rent. Based on a joint test of equality of coefficients across all urban units, we find that hedonic prices differ for 75% of the characteristics, thereby justifying a detailed analysis of heterogeneity.
