Asthma after consumption of snails in house-dust-mite-allergic patients: a case of IgE cross-reactivity

A group of 28 patients from Italy was studied who had asthma after consumption of snail. All patients also had asthma and/or rhinitis caused by house-dust mite. RAST analyses confirmed the combined sensitization to snail and mite. In a few sera, IgE antibodies reactive with other foods of invertebrate origin (mussel and shrimp) were detected. RAST inhibition showed that most IgE antibodies against snail were cross-reactive with house-dust mite. In contrast, the mite RAST was not significantly inhibited by snail. This paper highlights, from both a theoretical and an empirical point of view, how the choice of neighborhood and spatial weight affects the direct and indirect effects of environmental housing attributes on house price in environmental hedonic models.An original empirical investigation is herein undertaken for the area of the lower Loire estuary (France), in order to illustrate and complement our theoretical analysis. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań wpływu programu "Rodzina 500+" na poziom życia gospodarstw domowych w Polsce. W tym celu przeprowadzono analizę porównawczą relacji między samooceną poziomu zaspokajania podstawowych grup potrzeb a dochodami, wydatkami konsumpcyjnymi i wybranymi charakterystykami gospodarstw domowych klasyfikowanych według kryterium typu biologicznego. Porównywano sytuację gospodarstw domowych w roku 2015 i 2017, czyli w roku bezpośrednio poprzedzającym wprowadzenie programu świadczeń wychowawczych i roku, w którym świadczenie to wypłacane było już przez pełne 12 miesięcy. Energy inflation and consumption inequality

This paper examines the effects of higher energy prices on consumption inequality for a large panel of 129 advanced and developing economies during the period 1970–2013. The results suggest that energy inflation increases the Gini measure of consumption inequality and reduces (increases) the share of consumption of lower (higher) income deciles. These effects are larger in developing economies, in countries with limited access to finance, in those with weaker monetary policy frameworks, during periods of economic slack and in cases where government transfers do not compensate the poorer deciles during times of adverse income shocks.
