Pharmacologic Inhibition of ADAM10 Attenuates Brain Tissue Loss, Axonal Injury and Pro-inflammatory Gene Expression Following Traumatic Brain Injury …

2021

The α-secretase A disintegrin and metalloprotease 10 (ADAM10) regulates various physiological and pathophysiological processes. Despite its broad functional implications during development, plasticity, and disease, no pharmacological approaches to inhibit ADAM10 in acute brain injury have been reported. Here, we examined the effects of the ADAM10 inhibitor GI254023X on the neurological and histopathological outcome after experimental traumatic brain injury (TBI). C57BL/6N mice were subjected to the controlled cortical impact (CCI) model of TBI or sham procedure and received GI254023X or vehicle during the acute phase of injury (n = 40, 100 mg/kg, 25% DMSO, 0.1 M Na2CO3, intraperitoneal, 30 …

Synthesis of 5H-pyrido[3,2-b]pyrrolizin-5-one tripentone analogs with antitumor activity

2018

Abstract Pyrrolizinones represent an interesting class of compounds with varied degrees of structural complexity and pharmacological activity. Among these, 9H-pyrido[2,3-b]pyrrolizin-9-one, tripentone analogs, recently reported by us, showed significant antiproliferative activity against human tumor cell lines, inducing apoptosis and not affecting viability of Caco-2 differentiated in normal intestinal-like cells. Considering their interesting biological activity, their 5H-pyrido[3,2-b]pyrrolizin-5-one analogs were efficiently synthesized in good to excellent yields (61–91%). All tripentone derivatives were tested to assess their cytotoxicity against two human tumor cell lines, HCT-116 (hum…

Fra forfølgelse til statsreligion : aspekter ved forholdet mellom stat og kirke på 300 tallet i Bysants

2010

Masteroppgave i historie- Universitetet i Agder 2010 This theses deals with the relation of state and church in 4th century Byzantium. The research has been conducted based on three individual sources, namely the works of Eusebius of Cæsarea, Codex Theodosianus and church buildings. the main question has been: How did relations between church and state develop in 4th century Byzantium, and how did this development affect the power and identity of the church? The relations between church and state were strengthened by the fact that they were dependent of each other. The state needed the church to create unity in the multiethnic Byzantine empire. The church needed the state promote the new re…

Det relevante museum : historie, hensigt, interesser, virkelighed og berettigelse

2012

Masteroppgave i historie- Universitetet i Agder, 2012 The task for this master thesis, is to investigates the role of open-air museums have had on communities in Scandinavia. I do this through a comparative analysis of two museums, Jamtli in Österund, Sweden and Vest-Agder Museum Kristiansand, Norway. I look at how knowledge, interpretation and portrayal is disseminated in these museums, and examines how use of difficult topics are shown. I examine how the open-air museums occur, how they evolve and how they are in response to contemporary needs. In addition, I analyze these museums into a social context, and here I use my own theory which I have dubbed the museological-political complex. I…
