Overdose of Quetiapine—A Case Report with QT Prolongation

2021

Quetiapine is an atypical antipsychotic drug used to treat bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and major depressive disorder. Although several studies describe the adverse effects of intoxication with Quetiapine, only a few report an extreme overdose without comedications that lead to a life threat. We present a case of a 75-year-old male who tried to attempt suicide by ingesting 28 g of Quetiapine. During the management in the emergency department, both serum and urine samples were collected, allowing a complete pharmacokinetic analysis to be conducted, from the admission to the discharge.

Photobinding of Tiaprofenic Acid and Subprofen to Proteins and Cells: A Combined Study Using Radiolabeling, Antibodies and Laser Flash Photolysis of …

1998

Drug photoallergy is a matter of current concern. It involves the formation of drug-protein photoadducts (photoantigens) that may ultimately trigger an immunological response. Tyrosine residues appear to be key binding sites in proteins. The present work has investigated the photobinding of tiaprofenic and (TPA) and the closely related isomer suprofen (SUP) to proteins and cells by means of radioactive labeling and drug-directed antibodies. To ascertain whether preassociation with the protein may play a role in photoreactivity, two model bichromophoric compounds (TPA-Tyr and SUP-Tyr) have been prepared and studied by laser flash photolysis. The results of this work show that (a) TPA and SUP…

Anti-inflammatory dihydroxanthones from a Diaporthe species

2021

Abstract In a search for anti-inflammatory compounds from fungi inhibiting the promoter activity of the small chemokine CXCL10 (Interferon-inducible protein 10, IP-10) as a pro-inflammatory marker gene, the new dihydroxanthone methyl (1R, 2R)-1,2,8-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)-9-oxo-2,9-dihydro-1H-xanthene-1-carboxylate (2) and the previously described dihydroxanthone AGI-B4 (1) were isolated from fermentations of a Diaporthe species. The structures of the compounds were elucidated by a combination of one- and two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and calculations using density functional theory (DFT). Compounds 1 and 2 inhibited the LPS/IFNγ induced CXCL10 promoter activity …

Qui e là. Le Letterature dimenticate: Indocina, Cina, Corea, Giappone, Turchia

2018

Periapical surgery of maxillary posterior teeth : A review of the literature

2006

Antitumor effects of the novel NF-κB inhibitor dehydroxymethyl-epoxyquinomicin on human hepatic cancer cells: analysis of synergy with cisplatin and …

2006

We tested the novel NF-kappaB inhibitor dehydroxymethylepoxyquinomicin (DHMEQ) in the hepatic cancer (HCC) HepG2, HA22T/VGH and HuH-6 cells. The sensitivity to the cell growth inhibitory and apoptotic effects of the agent increased along with the levels of constitutively activated NF-kappaB, which were low in HepG2 and higher in HA22T/VGH and HuH-6. In HA22T/VGH, DHMEQ exhibited synergy with cisplatin. In the same cells, DHMEQ exerted dose-dependent decreases in the nuclear levels of activated NF-kappaB and attenuated NF-kappaB activation by cisplatin. It down-regulated Bcl-XL mRNA in a dose-dependent manner and up-regulated that of Bcl-XS. It also decreased interleukin 6 (IL-6), NAIP and, …

Miocene fossil cercopithecoids from Kenya

1986

Fossil cercopithecoid material from Ngeringerowa, Ngorora, and Nakali, dated at between 8.5 and 10.5 m.y., is described. The specimens are the only cercopithecoid remains dated between 15 and 6 m.y. from sub-Saharan Africa. The mandible of asmall colobine from Ngeringerowa (similar in size to Colobus verus) is assigned to a new genus and species, Microcolobus tugenensis. Unlike other colobine genera, the symphysis of Microcolobus lacks an inferior transverse torus. A colobine lower M1 or 2 from Nakali is longer and narrower than molars of M. tugenensis, indicating that it may belong to a distinct taxon. A P4 from Ngorora cannot be assigned confidently to subfamily, due to its unique metacon…
