The Impact of Business Group Affiliation and Country-Level Institutions on Corporate Governance of Emerging Market Firms

This study outlines how the corporate governance of emerging market firms is influenced by corporate affiliation and institutional embeddedness. We argue that the stronger the business group affiliation, the less likely is the emerging market firm to adopt shareholder value enhancing corporate governance, and that this relationship is moderated by institutional quality and tribalism. Among other approaches, this modulation can be obtained through the modification of the biomaterial surface. This paper proposes a simple and versatile strategy to produce non-leaching antibacterial polylactide (PLA) surfaces without any degradation of the polyester chains. Charge State of Silver Halide Colloids Determines the Antibacterial Activity in Amorphous Calcium Phosphate

Removal of bacteria is important not only at implantation, but after long-term implant/prosthesis use. This requires strategies that employ different approaches for combating bacteria. Halides have the potential of an additional mechanism, and together with silver may provide a more powerful antibacterial strategy. Silver iodide was synthesized as colloids with a positive and negative charge and incorporated into an amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) to provide a possible greater antibacterial action. Tunable release of Chlorhexidine from Polycaprolactone-based filaments containing graphene nanoplatelets

Abstract Graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) as fillers and Chlorhexidine (CHX), as an antibacterial agent, were incorporated in a polycaprolactone (PCL) matrix and processed into filaments by melt spinning. The influence of both drawing and formulation on the processability, spinnability, mechanical properties and release behaviour of these materials were deeply investigated by performing rheological, morphological analysis, tensile tests, and by measuring the cumulative release of CHX in PBS at 37 °C. Combining carvacrol and nisin in biodegradable films for antibacterial packaging applications

Abstract In this work, the feasibility of antibacterial biopolymeric films containing carvacrol (CRV) and a nisin commercial formulation (Nis) for potential food packaging applications was investigated. As polymer matrix, a commercial biodegradable polymer formulation of Mater-Bi (MB) was chosen due to its significant food packaging applications.
