User Innovation Networks and Research Challenges

User Innovation Networks (UIN) has been considered the open innovation model for this century as it functions entirely independently of manufacturers. This paper discusses two UIN cases, Daz3D, as well as Linux Dell and IBM cooperation as regards research challenges about the community of practice and interface used. It concludes that current technology only now started touching global and extreme collaboration for creativity and innovation.
Inhibitory effects of indicaxanthin on mouse ileal contractility: analysis of the mechanism of action.

Recently, we have showed that indicaxanthin, the yellow betalain pigment abundant in the fruit of Opuntia ficus indica, has remarkable spasmolytic effects on the intestinal contractility in vitro. Thus, the purpose of the present study was to investigate the mechanism of action underlying the observed response. We used organ bath technique to record the mechanical activity of the mouse ileum longitudinal muscle and ELISA to measure the levels of cAMP. The cellular inhibitor of Apoptosis 1 (cIAP1) behaves as an E3 ubiquitin ligase and has oncogenic properties. Previously, our team has shown that cIAP1 can regulate the E2F1 transcription factor activity. My research project has been focused on deepening our current knowledge on this interaction. Firstly, we characterized the E2F1-cIAP1 interaction, then we analyzed the regulation of E2F1 by cIAP1 and finally assessed the importance of the cIAP1-E2F1 interaction for the oncogenic properties of cIAP1. Computer vision and machine learning can be used to automate various tasks in cancer diagnostic and detection. If an attacker can manipulate the automated processing, the results can be devastating and in the worst case lead to wrong diagnosis and treatment. In this research, the goal is to demonstrate the use of one-pixel attacks in a real-life scenario with a real pathology dataset, TUPAC16, which consists of digitized whole-slide images.
