The setting of “The Transition of Juan Romero” – the short story by Howard Phillips Lovecraft, who was the originator of modern American horror fiction – is “the gold mine in the Cactus Range”. Drawing on the theories of Carl Gustav Jung, the author of the present interpretation amplifies the cultural dimensions of Lovecraft’s text, giving prominence to its origin from the ancient myths of the Aztecs, and using the so-called psychological alchemy to show the archetypal symbolism and structure of the story. Recipient Design by Gestures : How Depictive Gestures Embody Actions in Cooking Instructions

This paper investigates how depictive gestures, i.e., hand movements that depict actions, scenes or objects, are configured and used for accomplishing instructions. By drawing on video recordings of second language interactions in cooking classes for newcomers in Finland, we focus on instructions that project a certain type of complying bodily action as the relevant next action. We demonstrate that the instructions are designed to be sensitive not only to the contingencies of the material ecology of the kitchen but also to the epistemic and linguistic asymmetries between the participants. Seizure prediction using intracranial electroencephalogram (iEEG) is still challenging because of complicated signals in spatial and time domains. Feature selection in the spatial domain (i.e., channel selection) has been largely ignored in this field. Hence, in this paper, a novel approach of iEEG channel selection strategy combined with one-dimensional convolutional neural networks (1D-CNN) was presented for seizure prediction. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt jaunu, ar Covid-19 pandēmiju saistītu, šķirkļa vārdu iekļaušanu tiešsaistes angļu valodas vārdnīcās, kā arī noteikt un analizēt to veidus, vārdu šķiras, stilistisko raksturojumu, nozīmi un pielietotos vārddarināšanas paņēmienus. Mērķa sasniegšanai ir veikts literatūras pārskats, kā arī, empīriskajā daļā, tiek izmantotas gan kvalitatīvās, gan kvantitatīvās pētījumu metodes. The representatives of the liturgical movement knew that the renewal of the religious life of the faithful required a proper definition of the essence of the liturgy and of what the Church is. Then, they not only distanced themselves from the rubricist view of the liturgy, but also developed its new understanding and the importance of the faithful's active participation in celebrations. Human Technology: An Interdisciplinary Journal on Humans in ICT Environments started in 2005 as an open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal, published only online. At that time, the traditional printed journal model of publishing houses was quite dominant and largely uncontested. Now open-access journal publishing is growing rapidly (Bjork & Solomon, 2014) and providing important alternative routes to researchers’ access to the literature in many disciplines. This editorial only discusses the gold model of open-access publishing, not the green model (traditional journal publishing and a parallel repository). 1
The Roadmap to Finnish Open Science and Research

Finland published its open science roadmap at the end of November 2014. This roadmap is based on the work of the Open Science and Research Initiative (ATT), a cross-administrative initiative established by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The goal of this initiative is to promote open science and availability of information. Exploration of recent developments of open access in the EU shows that Finland is not among the leading countries in the EU. This paper focuses on the practical action plan of this roadmap and describes how the weakest part of Finnish open science, green open access is to be lifted at international top level.
