Comparison between unrestricted dynamic shakedown design and a new probabilistic approach for structures under seismic loadings

The paper concerns a study related to the comparison between two different approaches utilized for the formulation of an optimal shakedown design problem for elastic plastic frame structures subjected to a combination of fixed and seismic loading. The first formulation utilizes the unrestricted dynamic shakedown theory, while the second one is based on a new probabilistic approach. The comparison is effected in terms of mathematical formulations, in terms of adopted loading models and in terms of numerical results. The performed applications are related to plane steel frames.
Oral and dental health of Italian drug addicted in methadone treatment

Objectives: Our group recorded the characteristic of oro-dental health among a group of drug addicts in recovery treatment with methadone, and it evaluated the changes related to the withdrawal therapy. Methodology: A sample of 50 drug addicts in treatment with methadone was included in this study. At the beginning of the withdrawal therapy, the authors recorded the parameters involved in the most common oral diseases. Moreover, it was evaluated how, during the rehabilitation protocol, the behavioral parameters and the xerostomia that influence the oral health changed. Skargowość skazanych jako nowa forma "walki z systemem"

Artykuł oscyluje wokół zagadnienia skargowości skazanych, głównie tej w wymiarze instrumentalnym. Stosując sondaż diagnostyczny, opracowano trzy narzędzia badawcze. Dzięki temu zgromadzono informacje na temat przedmiotu skarg oraz przyczyn ich tworzenia. Celem badań było wypracowanie optymalnych działań mogących przyczynić się do minimalizacji zjawiska tworzenia skarg o charakterze instrumentalnym. W ostatniej części zawarto egzemplifikacje dla praktyki penitencjarnej, wskazując kierunki pracy ze skazanymi, zwłaszcza tworzącymi skargi pozbawione wartości merytorycznej. Ponadto przedłożono prawidłowości mogące przyczynić się do wskazania niespójności przepisów prawa z praktyką penitencjarną.

Early life of fathers affects offspring fitness in a wild rodent

Intergenerational fitness effects on offspring due to the early life of the parent are well studied from the standpoint of the maternal environment, but intergenerational effects owing to the paternal early life environment are often overlooked. Nonetheless, recent laboratory studies in mammals and ecologically relevant studies in invertebrates predict that paternal effects can have a major impact on the offspring's phenotype. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of an online affect management intervention on relationship conflict through the rate of growth of team resilience in virtual teams with diversity faultlines. Fifty-two 4-person teams participated in a randomized controlled trial design with repeated measures (i.e., three measurement occasions). Teams were randomly assigned to either an intervention designed to help them manage emotions in virtual teams or a control condition. Aquest article fa una anàlisi sobre els conflictes territorials sorgits al llarg dels darrers anys, de principis de la dècada de 2000 fins a 2013, a l’àrea metropolitana de València. Amb aquesta anàlisi, volem realitzar una radiografia sobre la conflictivitat territorial d’aquest espai urbà i avançar hipòtesis amb referència a les causes que la van provocar, com també estudiar les connexions espacials que es van establir, de cara a una formulació posterior de recomanacions per a una planificació urbana i territorial i un govern de la ciutat millors.
