Dalitz plot analysis ofD0→K¯0K+K−

2005

A Dalitz plot analysis of approximately 12500 D0 events reconstructed in the hadronic decay D0-->K0bar K+ K- is presented. This analysis is based on a data sample of 91.5 fb-1 collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+ e- storage rings at SLAC running at center-of-mass energies on and 40 MeV below the Y4S resonance. The events are selected from e+ e- --> c cbar annihilations using the decay D*+ --> D0 pi+. The following ratio of branching fractions has been obtained: BR = Gamma(D0-->K0bar K+ K-)/Gamma(D0-->K0bar pi+ pi-) = (15.8+/-0.1(stat.)+/-0.5(syst.)x 10-2 Estimates of fractions and phases for resonant and non-resonant contributions to the Dalitz plot are also …

Search for the rare charmless hadronic decayB+→a0+π0

2008

We present a search for B decays to a charged scalar meson a0+ and a pi0 where the a0+ decays to an eta meson and a pi+. The analysis was performed on a data sample consisting of 383x10-6 BBbar pairs collected with the Babar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. We find no significant signal and set an upper limit on the product branching fraction BF[(B+ -> a0+ pi0) x (a0+ -> eta pi+)] of 1.4x10-6 at the 90% confidence level.

La dimensione pubblica del discorso d'odio

2022

Studies regarding supported housing and the built environment for people with mental health problems : A mixed-methods literature review

2019

Abstract Places where people live are important for their personal and social lives. This is also the case for people with mental health problems living in supported housing. To summarise the existing knowledge, we conducted a systematic review of 13 studies with different methodologies regarding the built environment in supported housing and examined their findings in a thematic analysis. The built environment of supported housing involves three important and interrelated themes: well-being, social identity and privacy. If overregulated by professionals or located in problematic neighbourhoods or buildings, the settings could be an obstacle to recovery. If understood as meaningful places w…

Planning integrated care at primary care centres: lessons learnt through research in stratification tools in the Valencian Healthcare System

2018

Introduction and policy context: In the Valencian Region social services and the healthcare system are not connected. Also there is not any normative jointly regulating resources, services or aid benefits that would mean an integrated care IC portfolio.  Primary care PC centres are the closest and most trustworthy care facility for patients in the Spanish context. Also, PC is one of the most suitable resources to address needs of complex patients, as elderly and/or those with chronic conditions, through an IC approach, but there are some barriers that block its real and effective deployment. Objective and target population: Authors have studied the viability, implementation and development …

Overview and Book Plan

2013

This chapter provides an introduction to the biology and pathology of molecular chaperones, many of which are heat-shock proteins, involved in protein homeostasis and other unrelated functions. When chaperones are defective structurally and/or functionally they may cause disease. These diseases in which chaperones play an etiologic-pathogenic role are the chaperonopathies. The chapter also gives a clinical-pathological overview of chaperonopathies and guidelines for their identification and diagnosis. It briefly describes how to detect and characterize a chaperonopathy in a patient. Chaperones can be useful biomarkers for disease diagnosis and monitoring, including evaluation of prognosis a…

In BOLD we trust? A commentary on the reliability of specimen identification for DNA barcoding: a case study on burrower bugs (Hemiptera: Heteroptera…

2016

An assessment was performed regarding the accuracy of various types of data deposited in the Barcode of Life Data system (BOLD) related to the true bug family Cydnidae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera). Taxonomic nomenclature and classification, identification reliability, and the correctness of the data provided in the “Taxon description” were analyzed and commented on with respect to both available versions of the BOLD system, i.e. version 3 and beta version 4. Numerous mistakes in taxonomy, the relevance of the taxa names, and species misidentifications in BOLD version 3 were found and, more importantly, similar errors were detected in BOLD version 4 as well. We suggest that if the BOLD system is…

949 IDENTIFICATION OF TWO CLINICALLY DISTINCT SUBTYPES IN AUTOIMMUNE HEPATITIS BY COMPARATIVE FUNCTIONAL GENOMICS

2013

Conclusion: Incidence of autoimmune hepatitis is increasing, as other autoimmune diseases in developed countries. The main recognised hypothesis is the ‘hygienist theory’ (improvement of hygien leading to a decrease in infections) with few putative non exclusive mechanisms involving antigenic competition, extension of immune regulation induced by exogenous bacterial antigen or Toll Like Receptors.

A Sequential Quadratic Programming Method for Volatility Estimation in Option Pricing

2006

Our goal is to identify the volatility function in Dupire's equation from given option prices. Following an optimal control approach in a Lagrangian framework, we propose a globalized sequential quadratic programming (SQP) algorithm with a modified Hessian - to ensure that every SQP step is a descent direction - and implement a line search strategy. In each level of the SQP method a linear-quadratic optimal control problem with box constraints is solved by a primal-dual active set strategy. This guarantees L^1 constraints for the volatility, in particular assuring its positivity. The proposed algorithm is founded on a thorough first- and second-order optimality analysis. We prove the existe…

A modified Ant Colony damage identification algorithm for not well spaced frequency systems

2012

Damage identification is of primary concern in many fields of civil engineering. Usually the damage is detected from the variation of structural response induced. When the damage level is very low, incipient damage, this variation is hardly seen. In the present work is studied the case of not well spaced frequency systems. Identification problem is formulated as a minimum problem of a functional expressed in term of damage parameters. The minimum problem is solved by heuristic algorithm, ACORL.
