Bipedicled DIEAP flaps for reconstruction of limb soft tissue defects in male patients.
2016
Summary Background Extensive soft tissue deficiencies involving the limbs can be difficult to reconstruct and may require more than one microsurgical flap transfer to cover the defect. This can be particularly challenging in male patients, where the sacrifice of a donor muscle could result in considerable comorbidity. This paper describes the use of the bipedicled deep inferior epigastric artery perforator (DIEAP) flap to perform a one-stage reconstruction of extensive soft tissue defects in male patients. Methods By using preoperative multidetector computed tomographic (MDCT) angiography, the dominant perforators of the abdominal wall were identified and the bipedicled DIEAP flap was used …
MATHEMATISATION: SOCIAL PROCESS & DIDACTIC PRINCIPLE
2017
The 69th CIEAEM conference was held from 15th to 19th July 2017 at Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. It successfully involved 100 participants from 20 countries all over the world. CIEAEM 69 was dedicated to Professor Christine Keitel, president of CIEAEM from 1997 to 2003, who tragically passed away one year before the conference. The programme of the conference started with a panel that revisited “Mathematics (Education) and Common Sense”, the theme of the 47th CIEAEM conference, which was held in Berlin in July 1995 and which was hosted by Christine. At the conference, researchers, teachers, educators, and students met to discuss, in a collaborative and inspiring environment, the most p…
MATHEMATIQUES ET VIVRE ENSEMBLE": POURQUOI, QUOI, COMMENT? - "MATHEMATICS AND LIVING TOGETHER": WHY, HOW, WHAT?
2019
The 70th CIEAEM conference was held from 15th to 19th July 2018 at Université de Mostaganem - Fondation Djanatu Al Arif, Mostaganem (Algerie). It successfully involved several participants from many countries all over the world. At the conference, researchers, teachers, educators, and students discussed, with a collaborative and inspiring attitude, different significant problems, obstacles and resources related to mathematics education and the important theme of the conference “What is living together?”; they also presented their latest research findings in the several conference activities: plenary talks, working groups, workshops, and poster presentations (forum of ideas). As in previous …
Phylogenomic evidence for the presence of a flagellum and cbb(3) oxidase in the free-living mitochondrial ancestor.
2011
The initiation of the intracellular symbiosis that would give rise to mitochondria and eukaryotes was a major event in the history of life on earth. Hypotheses to explain eukaryogenesis fall into two broad and competing categories: those proposing that the host was a phagocytotic proto-eukaryote that preyed upon the free-living mitochondrial ancestor (hereafter FMA), and those proposing that the host was an archaebacterium that engaged in syntrophy with the FMA. Of key importance to these hypotheses are whether the FMA was motile or nonmotile, and the atmospheric conditions under which the FMA thrived. Reconstructions of the FMA based on genome content of Rickettsiales representatives-gener…

A new subspecies of Epipactis microphylla (Orchidaceae; Epidendroideae) from Pantelleria Island (Sicily)
2021
A new subspecies of Epipactis microphylla, proposed as subsp. cossyrensis is described and illustrated from Pantelleria, a volcanic island near Sicily. It differs from subsp. microphylla mainly in the shape and size of leaves and bracts and several floral traits. This taxon, previously attributed to E. pollinensis, a species currently treated as a synonym of E. purpurata, grows in the undergrowth of thermophilous woodlands occurring on the top of the island, where it numbers a few tens of individuals. The conservation status, phenology and taxonomic remarks are provided. Keys for the species belonging to the Epipactis atrorubens group (= subsect. Atrorubensae), including E. microphylla, are…
LES VARIATIONS DU NIVEAU MARIN SUR LE BASSIN DE PARIS AU BATHONIEN-CALLOVIEN. IMPACTS SUR LES COMMUNAUTÉS BENTHIQUES ET SUR L'ÉVOLUTION DES ORNITHELL…
1992
The study deals with the biological impacts of sea-Ievel changes on evolution of a Jurassic benthic fossil group (Ornithellida, Brachiopoda). The different time and scale at which the shifts in marine environments occur leads to the recognition of three interacting dynamic systems: environmental, communities, populations dynamics. The analysis is thus divided into a three steps hierarchy: sequence stratigraphy, analysis of the diversity of brachiopod assemblages, and analysis of morphological variations within omithellid populations. Sequence stratigraphy of the Dogger marly and carbonate successions in the Paris basin provides accurate correlations of depositional environments from shallow…
