Freshness Indexes of Anchovies and Sardines of Mediterranean Sea

Anchovy (Engraulis Encrasicholus) and sardine (Sardina Pilchardus) are blue fishes linked to our alimentary tradition of Mediterranean. In our work, particularly, we tested for the first time physical and enzymatic methods to verify the freshness of species of blue fish, anchovy and sardine of Mediterranean. In connection with to the lowering of the pH after post-mortem stage we assisted to a increase in proteolytic activity of calpaine and catpsine. Already after 2 h in post- mortem there was a considerable increase.

Challenging management of gingival squamous cell carcinoma: a 10 years single-center retrospective study on Northern-Italian patients.

Background Aim of this study was to describe the outcome of patients with gingival squamous cell carcinoma (GSCC), and to recognize aspects affecting clinical course and to consider survival rate. Material and Methods The case records of patients, over a 10-year period, were retrospectively examined. Differences in distribution of the potential risk factors by prognosis were investigated through non-parametrical tests (Wilcoxon Rank-Sum and Fisher’s Exact). Die Erforschung dieser jüdischen Fragmente erfährt seit einigen Jahren in Deutschland und auch in benachbarten europäischen Ländern zunehmende Beachtung. Dennoch sind viele Funde noch unbekannt und konnten daher etwa auch im Rahmen größerer Editionsprojekte nicht berücksichtigt werden. Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) applies electric pulses into the subthalamic nucleus (STN) improving tremor and other symptoms associated to Parkinson's disease. Accurate STN detection for proper location and implant of the stimulating electrodes is a complex task and surgeons are not always certain about final location. Signals from the STN acquired during DBS surgery are obtained with microelectrodes, having specific characteristics differing from other brain areas. Using supervised learning, a trained model based on previous microelectrode recordings (MER) can be obtained, being able to successfully classify the STN area for new MER signals.
