Multichannel single-output color pattern recognition by use of a joint-transform correlator.

1996

A novel method for performing color image recognition by the use of the coherent joint-transform correlator is introduced. The input plane of the proposed method is a spatial rearrangement of the separation into color channels of both the color input scene and the color target. This input plane is gray scaled and monochromatic, thus it can be displayed by the use of amplitude spatial light modulators to achieve real-time operation. The system provides a single output-plane result of the optical coherent addition of the separate channels’ correlation outputs. At the output plane no electronic postprocessing is needed, and the detection decision is achieved simply by the application of thresh…

A Combinatorial Color Edge Detector

2004

In this paper, we present an edge detection approach in color image using neighborhood hypergraph. The edge structure is detected by a structural model. The Color Image Neighborhood Hypergraph (CINH) representation is first computed, then the hyperedges of CINH are classified into noise or edge based on hypergraph properties. To evaluate the algorithm performance, experiments were carried out on synthetic and real color images corrupted by alpha-stable noise. The results show that the proposed edge detector finds the edges properly from color images.

Application of the S-CIELAB color model to processed and calibrated images with a colorimetric dithering method.

2009

This work uses the S-CIELAB color model to compare images that have been calibrated and processed using a colorimetric dithering method which simulates increments in viewing distance. Firstly, we obtain XYZ calibrated images by applying the appropriate color transformations to the original images. These transformations depend on whether the image is viewed on a display device or encoded by a capture device, for example. Secondly, we use a colorimetric dithering method consisting of a partitive additive mixing of XYZ tristimulus values. The number of dithered pixels depends on simulated viewing distance. The dithered tristimulus values are transformed to digital data to observe the dithering…

THE INFLUENCE OF CHROMATIC ABERRATION ON DEMOSAICKING

2014

International audience; The wide deployment of colour imaging devices owes much to the use of colour filter array (CFA). A CFA produces a mosaic image, and normally a subsequent CFA demosaick-ing algorithm interpolates the mosaic image and estimates the full-resolution colour image. Among various types of optical aberrations from which a mosaic image may suffer, chromatic aberration (CA) influences the spatial and spectral correlation through the artefacts such as blur and mis-registration, which demosaicking also relies on. In this paper we propose a simulation framework aimed at an investigation of the influence of CA on demosaicking. Results show that CA benefits de-mosaicking to some ex…

POLYNOMIAL GROWTH OF THE*-CODIMENSIONS AND YOUNG DIAGRAMS

2001

Let A be an algebra with involution * over a field F of characteristic zero and Id(A, *) the ideal of the free algebra with involution of *-identities of A. By means of the representation theory of the hyperoctahedral group Z 2wrS n we give a characterization of Id(A, *) in case the sequence of its *-codimensions is polynomially bounded. We also exhibit an algebra G 2 with the following distinguished property: the sequence of *-codimensions of Id(G 2, *) is not polynomially bounded but the *-codimensions of any T-ideal U properly containing Id(G 2, *) are polynomially bounded.

Group-graded algebras with polynomial identity

1998

LetG be a finite group and letR=Σg∈GRg be any associative algebra over a field such that the subspacesRg satisfyRgRh⊆Rgh. We prove that ifR1 satisfies a PI of degreed, thenR satisfies a PI of degree bounded by an explicit function ofd and the order ofG. This result implies the following: ifH is a finite-dimensional semisimple commutative Hopfalgebra andR is anyH-module algebra withRH satisfying a PI of degreed, thenR satisfies a PI of degree bounded by an explicit function ofd and the dimension ofH.

Rigorous Multimode Equivalent Network Representation of Multilayer Planar Circuits

2018

The objective of this paper is to extend the use of the Multimode Equivalent Network formulation, originally developed to analyze waveguide junctions, to the analysis of planar circuits that include arbitrary rectangular printed, zero thickness metallizations together with internal and external ports in the transverse plane. The theoretical derivations lead to an accurate and computationally efficient tool for the analysis of boxed, multilayer microwave printed circuits. In addition to theory, the tool developed is used here to analyze two practical examples: a dual-bandpass and a 4-pole bandpass boxed microstrip filters. Good agreement with respect to commercial software tools and measurem…

Shift-and-scale-invariant pattern recognition using an elliptic coordinate-transformed phase-only filter

1992

A shift-and-scale-invariant elliptic coordinate-transformed phase-only filter in proposed. The filter is built in three steps: the complex conjugate of a basic-size target spectrum is calculated, its phase-only part is taken, and then the elliptic coordinate transformation is made. In the extreme case the scale ratio of recognizable objects equals 1:1.5, permitting good recognition of object sizes S within the range 0.83/= S/= 1.25. Discrimination abilities and relative Horner efficiencies of a few versions of the filter are calculated.

Shift and scale-invariant correlator using a radially stretched phase-only filter

1995

A radial stretching of the phase only filter depending on the energy angular distribution of the target spectrum is used to perform shift and scale invariant pattern recognition. The complex conjugate of a basic size target Fourier transform and the cumulative energy angular distribution are calculated. Then the radially stretched filter providing the same energy contribution to the correlation peak independent on the target size is prepared and used in a conventional correlator, with spherical-wave illumination. The maximum scale ratio of recognizable objects equals 1:1.5. Computer simulations and experimental results, showing the performance of the filter are presented.

Efficient boundary integral-resonant mode expansion method implementation for full-wave analysis of passive devices based on circular waveguides with…

2013

In this study, the efficient full-wave analysis of passive devices composed of circular and arbitrarily-shaped waveguides is considered. For this purpose, the well-known boundary integral-resonant mode expansion (BI RME) method has been properly extended. Circular waveguides are used for resonant mode expansion, whereas the arbitrary contour is defined by any combination of straight, circular and elliptical segments, thus allowing the exact representation of the most widely used geometries. The proposed algorithm extends previous implementations of the BI RME method based on circular waveguides by considering circular and elliptical arcs for defining arbitrary geometries. Similarly, it allo…
