To understand this question, we conducted semi-structured interviews with persons who decided consciously no to participate in associations and organizations that worked with immigrants. Exploring Neighborhood Influences on Small-Area Variations in Intimate Partner Violence Risk: A Bayesian Random-Effects Modeling Approach

This paper uses spatial data of cases of intimate partner violence against women (IPVAW) to examine neighborhood-level influences on small-area variations in IPVAW risk in a police district of the city of Valencia (Spain). To analyze area variations in IPVAW risk and its association with neighborhood-level explanatory variables we use a Bayesian spatial random-effects modeling approach, as well as disease mapping methods to represent risk probabilities in each area. Analyses show that IPVAW cases are more likely in areas of high immigrant concentration, high public disorder and crime, and high physical disorder. While the overwhelming majority of integrated threat studies have been conducted from the point of view of the dominant culture, and a few from the point of view of an immigrant or minority’s perspective, none have explored threat from the point of view of a refugee. Crimmigration has its breeding ground in dystopian and securitarian narratives. The anti-hero of these narratives is the mass-foreigner, a stereotyped version of the foreigner usually depicted, alternatively or cumulatively, as an enemy or as a parasite of host societies. But not only does crimmigration presuppose such narratives (and the deviant identity of the mass-foreigner, which is connected with them) as a source of legitimation, it also fuels these same narratives by providing them with an official sanction: by merging criminalization and irregularization on a legal level, it heavily contributes to making the social identity of mass-foreigners into a doubly deviant one. ELF and mixed linguistic varieties in the Sicilian Context of Immigration

This study emerges from recent research within the context of a new Sicily, where the various ethnic groups living there have become ELF users, who appropriate the English language according to their own different native linguabackground. This phenomenon places Sicily in a complex position with regard to the creation of ElL speakers. Specific case-studies will support this paper in testifying to the growth of an ELF mode as a relexfied, hybridised and cannibalised language, which is adapted to the immigrants' linguistic necessities.
‘Ordinary’ and ‘diverse’ families : A case study of family discourses by Finnish early childhood education and care administrators

The increased family diversity is a major global trend. Although family configurations are also diverse in contemporary Finland, it has been argued that Finnish family policies and institutional understanding of family life continues to focus on the heteronormative two-parent family with a native Finnish background.
