Understanding Batesian mimicry is a classic problem in evolutionary biology. In Batesian mimicry, a defended species (the model) is mimicked by an undefended species (the mimic). Prior theories have emphasized the role of predator behavior and learning as well as evolution in model-mimic complexes but have not examined the role of population dynamics in potentially governing the relative abundances and even persistence of model-mimic systems. Here, we examined the effect of the population dynamics of predators and alternative prey on the prevalence of warning-signaling prey composed of models and mimics. Verbal effect on memorisation and recognition of Wagner’s leitmotifs

This study aims to investigate the different listening experiences of Richard Wagner’s leitmotifs with and without verbal (external) information provided about the leitmotifs, their meanings and the librettos of the work. In the experiment half of the participants were asked to read and memorise written information about two leitmotifs, and then to listen to the two corresponding leitmotifs several times until they were memorised. The other participants were asked to perform the same task without reading the written information. Maģistra darba temats ir “Publisko bibliotēku bibliotekāru informācijpratība”. Bibliotekāri ir starpnieki starp informāciju un lietotāju. Bibliotekāru informācijpratībai ir jābūt labā līmenī, lai kvalitatīvi apkalpotu bibliotēkas lietotājus. Līdz šim Latvijā nav veiktu pētījumu par bibliotekāru informācijpratību. Maģistra darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, kāds ir publisko bibliotēku bibliotekāru informācijpratības līmenis, un sniegt ieteikumus tā uzlabošanai. Datu ieguvei izmantotas anketēšanas, intervijas un verbālā uzdevuma metodes. Based on consumers' preferences, AI (artificial intelligence) recommendation automatically filters information, which provokes scholars' debate. Supporters believe that by analyzing the consumers' preferences, AI recommendation enables consumers to choose products more quickly and with lower cost. Critics deem that consumers are more easily trapped in information cocoons because of the use of AI recommendation. This reduces the possibility of consumers contacting with a variety of commodities, thus lowering the consumer decision quality. Generating TV summaries for CE-devices

Automatically generated summaries of TV content are indispensable for content selection and navigation in CE-devices. We show two different types of summaries: Short video trailers and visual overviews consisting of representative frames. The demo does not only show the feasibility of the proposed algorithms, but also shows how different types of generated summaries can be used in future CE-devices.
