Farm Entrepreneurs’ Intentions to Develop Pluriactive Business Activities in Finland
2015
We contribute to the entrepreneurial intentions literature by applying the theory of planned behaviour and resource-based views to the model of active entrepreneurs’ intention to develop their pluriactive businesses. Using our 2012 survey data from farm firms in Finland, we address the limited focus on active entrepreneurs and their intentions to develop on-going income-generating, off-farm related business activities. We found that attitudinal proxy antecedents such as innovation, cooperation and growth for pluriactivity differ for active and non-active entrepreneurs and with respect to the entrepreneurs’ age and production line and innovation behaviour. Job satisfaction mediates the association between perceived leadership styles and early retirement intentions
2016
The ageing of the population is particularly challenging for the healthcare sector, which is at the same time facing a nursing shortage. Therefore, improving work conditions and well-being at work in order to prolong nurses’ careers and retention in their profession until retirement age has become one of the key issues of healthcare leaders and policymakers. This study tested a structural model linking nurses’ perceived leadership styles and early retirement intentions. We tested the model in a sample of 343 nurses at one Finnish university hospital. It was hypothesized that the relationship between perceived leadership styles and early retirement intentions would be mediated by job satisfa…

Entrepreneurial Intentions: A process perspective
2019
Entrepreneurship research heavily populates many of the leading business and management journals of contemporary times. It´s expansive utility however is not bound by any one particular area, evidenced by the prominence of coverage in a wide-array of multi-disciplinary domains spanning from psychology and sociology to medicine and politics. Attention is fueled by a commonly held belief that multi-faceted complex issues such as, market, economic and social dynamism can all be addressed through individuals both thinking and acting entrepreneurially. It is by means of entrepreneurship that plausible and effective solutions can be uncovered towards economic necessities whilst concomitantly at a…
More and More Lies. A New Distinction and its Consequences
2017
In this article, we present a distinction (within the category of ‘deceptive …
Persistent joblessness and fertility intentions
2019
Background: The vast majority of demographic studies have approached and operationalised the notion of economic uncertainty using snapshot indicators. Hence, the complexity and diversity of individuals' employment careers were largely hidden. We posit that the persistence of joblessness - that is, repeated and close spells of joblessness - represents a crucial marker of economic uncertainty in the realm of fertility (intention) research. Objective: We aim to explore the association between persistent joblessness of both members of the couple and women's fertility intentions among those who entered employment at least once in the last five years. Methods: We develop an index of persistent jo…

Det andre malet er en teoretisk tilnaerming med fokus pa intensjonelle prosesser i lys av utvidet teori om planlagt atferd (TPB). Resultatene viser at priva…

Physical Activity in Peri-Urban Communities: Testing Intentional and Implicit Processes within an Ecological Framework.
2020
Background Given the substantive health inequalities in peri‐urban communities and the potential for physical activity to promote health in these communities, identifying modifiable physical activity determinants in this population is important. This study explored effects of the peri‐urban environment and psychological constructs on physical activity intentions and behavioural automaticity guided by an integrated theoretical framework. Methods Peri‐urban Australians (N = 271) completed self‐report measures of environmental (i.e. physical/social environment, and neighbourhood selection), motivational (i.e. autonomous motivation), and social cognition (i.e. attitudes, norms, and perceived be…
