Assemblage of art, discourse and ice hockey : designing knowledge about work

2021

This article examines speculative design's capacity to co‐produce knowledge about contradictions and potentialities of work in professional ice hockey. Building on the Deleuzian concept of assemblage, speculative design has been used for two purposes: (a) to bring together the perspectives of art, anthropology, discourse studies, and professional sports in co‐constructing knowledge about hockey work; and (b) to analyze and present the key findings of an ethnography on hockey work through an art exhibition of speculative hockey memorabilia. As such, these art pieces showed the intertwined relationships of material, discursive, and affective aspects in hockey work as well as the multiplicity …

Los retratos de Miguel de Cervantes: de la búsqueda del hombre al triunfo del mito

2017

ABSTRACT : Miguel de Cervantes has his own gallery of images that have come down to posterity, but who painted the portraits of Miguel de  Cervantes that have been discovered over the course of time? Beginning with the verbal self-portrait of himself that Cervantes crafts in the prologue of his  Novelas ejemplares (1613), this study traces the route of the different portraits sine 1738 that have been claimed as the true image of the author from Alcala de Henares. It is a path that follows along the character known as Miguel de Cervantes, which has imposed itself on the myth, taking precedence over the man who lived during the Golden Age. KEYWORDS: Cervantes; Portrait; Cervantine Iconography…

High perceived stress is associated with unfavorable eating behavior in overweight and obese Finns of working age

2016

Stress-related eating may be a potential factor in the obesity epidemic. Rather little is known about how stress associates with eating behavior and food intake in overweight individuals in a free-living situation. Thus, the present study aims to investigate this question in psychologically distressed overweight and obese working-aged Finns. The study is a cross-sectional baseline analysis of a randomized controlled trial. Of the 339 study participants, those with all the needed data available (n = 297, 84% females) were included. The mean age was 48.9 y (SD = 7.6) and mean body mass index 31.3 kg/m(2) (SD = 3.0). Perceived stress and eating behavior were assessed by self-reported questionn…

Microsomal triglyceride transfer protein gene mutations in Turkish children: A novel mutation and clinical follow up.

2016

Abetalipoproteinemia (ABL; OMIM 200100) is a rare autosomal recessive disease that affects the absorption of dietary fats and fat soluble vitamins. Here, we describe the clinical and genetic characteristics of three patients with ABL. Two patients (patients 1 and 2) who were carriers of the c.398-399delAA mutation (previously known mutation) had developmental delay and hepatic steatosis developed at the age of five in patient 1. Patient 3 was the carrier of a novel mutation (g.10886-10902delAAGgtaagtttgtgttg in intron 3 and c.506A>T exon 5) in microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP) gene and had hepatic steatosis.

A cross-country examination of emotional eating, restrained eating and intuitive eating: Measurement Invariance across eight countries

2020

This study examined the measurement invariance of three scales that assessed emotional eating, restrained eating, and intuitive eating across eight countries (Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Italy, Japan, Spain and the United States) in order to determine their suitability for cross-country body image research. A total of 6272 young adults took part in this study. Participants completed an online survey including the Emotional Eating subscale of the Three Factor Eating Questionnaire-Revised 21, the Restraint subscale of the Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire, and the Reliance on Hunger and Satiety Cues subscale of The Intuitive Eating Scale-2. Multi-group confirmatory factor analy…
