Procedures for study of teaching practices. Literature Review

Interest in studying teaching practices has increased, because of the need to evaluate teachers and dissatisfaction with the usual ways of doing it. Recent approaches with Value-Added Models, based on students’ results on achievement tests do not seem satisfactory. The article is based on a review of literature and classifies the approaches to practices in three groups: instruments based on information given by teachers; observation protocols; and approaches based on the analysis of products of the practices. Highly sensitive olfactory biosensors for the detection of volatile organic compounds by surface plasmon resonance imaging

International audience; Nowadays, monitoring of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is very important in various domains. In this work, we aimed to develop sensitive olfactory biosensors using odorant binding proteins (OBPs) as sensing materials. Three rat OBP3 derivatives with customized binding properties were designed and immobilized on the same chip for the detection of VOCs in solution by surface plasmon resonance imaging (SPRi). We demonstrated that the proteins kept their binding properties after the immobilization under optimized conditions. Dicha desigualdad es resultado de las características socioeconómicas de su población pero también de la oferta de servicios y equipamientos públicos. Signs in public space reflect ‘normalcy’ in a community. The authors ask what restricting signs tell us about a society? In order to explore the system and variation in the ways dog signs manifest different norms and control, they compare two different data sets: dog signs in a Northern European town, Jyväskylä in Finland, and two Eastern European villages in Romania. They apply a qualitative methodology based on visual communication, geosemiotics and linguistic landscape studies. Effect of temperature on anaerobic treatment of black water in UASB-septic tank systems

The effect of northern European seasonal temperature changes and low temperature on the performance of upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB)-septic tanks treating black water was studied. Three UASB-septic tanks were monitored with different operational parameters and at different temperatures. The results indicated the feasibility of the UASB-septic tank for (pre)treatment of black water at low temperatures with respect to removal of suspended solids and dissolved organic material. Inoculum sludge had little effect on COD(ss) removal, though in the start-up phase some poorly adapted inoculum disintegrated and washed out, thus requiring consideration when designing the process. This paper will test the relationship between water and cult in the southern part of the sanctuary of Zeus Olympios at Agrigento. The most singular feature of this area is a monumental pool, besides some cisterns, buildings and a small oikos temple. The sacred area was investigated during the 20th century by E. Gabrici and E. De Miro and was referred to a chthonian cult, without deepening the features and modalities of ritual activities.
