Inhibiting a protein that regulates multiple signal transduction pathways in cancer cells is an attractive goal for cancer therapy. Heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) is one of the most promising molecular targets for such an approach. Increasing the Coverage of Medicinal Chemistry-Relevant Space in Commercial Fragments Screening

Analyzing the chemical space coverage in commercial fragment screening collections revealed the overlap between bioactive medicinal chemistry substructures and rule-of-three compliant fragments is only ∼25%. We recommend including these fragments in fragment screening libraries to maximize confidence in discovering hit matter within known bioactive chemical space, while incorporation of nonoverlapping substructures could offer novel hits in screening libraries. Ac field dependence of the susceptibility of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 thin films at low dc fields

We have measured the ac field dependence of the ac susceptibility of 400 nm thick Bi2212 thin films at low dc fields 0 ≤μ0Ha ≤ 1 mT in transverse geometry. We show that at reduced temperaturest≤0.85 the ac field dependence can be described by the non-linear Bean model after Brandt as in Y123 thin films. Att>0.85, however, we observe a decrease of the energy dissipation and shielding capability. The critical current density at zero dc field is given byjc−4×1010(1−(T/Tc))2.8±0.1 A/m2.

The goal of this work was to test a methodology, based on multi-criteria analysis and geographic information systems, aimed at identifying areas potentially suitable to host landfills for Municipal Solid Waste (MSW). Although the above-mentioned methodology was applied to three different areas (Western, South-western and Eastern) of Sicily, in this paper, we present the results of the western sector. The first step consisted of the division of the study area in excluded and potentially suitable sites, on the basis of the Italian current legislation.
