Relationship between employee involvement and lean manufacturing and its effect on performance in a rigid continuous process industry

2015

Relationship between employee involvement and lean manufacturing and its effect on performance in a rigid continuous process industry DOI: 10.1080/00207543.2014.975852 Juan A. Marin-Garciaa* & Tomas Bonaviab Received: 1 Aug 2013 Accepted: 30 Sep 2014 Published online: 04 Nov 2014 This research aims to empirically test the effect of employee involvement on lean manufacturing (LM), and the effect of LM on production outcomes. Employee involvement is operationalised through four related variables: empowerment, training, contingent remuneration and communication. The effects are tested by recording management perceptions in a different industrial sector from those usually studied in previous re…

Optimizing the Methodology of Characterization of Municipal Solid Waste in EU under a Circular Economy Perspective

2017

Abstract The methodology for the characterization of residual municipal solid waste (RMSW) is available since decades. Some modifications have been introduced in order to modernize it. Now, in order to take into account the targets of the circular economy, an additional effort must be made to be sure of generating the right information suitable for the optimization of municipal solid waste in that frame. In that perspective, the Authors present a few proposals in order to avoid mistakes and to deepen the reliability of the data generated during the analysis performed to classify the residual municipal solid waste in fractions. A new model of characterization is thus proposed, suitable for p…

How Circular Dichroism in Time- and Angle-Resolved Photoemission Can Be Used to Spectroscopically Detect Transient Topological States in Graphene

2020

Pumping graphene with circularly polarized light is the archetype of light-tailoring topological bands. Realizing the induced Floquet-Chern-insulator state and demonstrating clear experimental evidence for its topological nature has been a challenge, and it has become clear that scattering effects play a crucial role. We tackle this gap between theory and experiment by employing microscopic quantum kinetic calculations including realistic electron-electron and electron-phonon scattering. Our theory provides a direct link to the build up of the Floquet-Chern-insulator state in light-driven graphene and its detection in time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). This approac…

2002

After a conceptual presentation of the decentralized Integration survey (IVA), the main transformations of this scheme are outlined in a changing economic, social and technological context. Above all, the authors analyse the appropriation of data and the main actors' involvement according to institutional logics at the national and regional levels.

On the validity of non-Markovian master equation approaches for the entanglement dynamics of two-qubit systems

2010

In the framework of the dissipative dynamics of coupled qubits interacting with independent reservoirs, a comparison between non-Markovian master equation techniques and an exact solution is presented here. We study various regimes in order to find the limits of validity of the Nakajima–Zwanzig and the time-convolutionless master equations in the description of the entanglement dynamics. A comparison between the performances of the concurrence and the negativity as entanglement measures for the system under study is also presented.

Multiparametric MRI-based Dosimetric Parameters Best Predict Short-term Time Course of PSA After Iodine 125 Permanent Prostate Implantation for Local…

2012

International audience; D90% and V150% of the entire prostate are recognized as the best dosimetric predictors of outcome after 125 I permanent prostate implantation (PPI). The purpose of this study was 2-fold: 1) to determine the relationship between dose-volume parameters of the Dominant Intraprostatic Lesion (DIL) when compared to the prostate and early biochemical outcome after PPI; 2) to define if dose-volume parameters of the central gland (CG), the peripheral zone (PZ) and the DIL could best predict PSA bounce occurrence. The time course of PSA and mechanisms of bounces still remain unclear after PPI. Patients who had a higher dose in the DIL had a worse PSA level at 1 year which is …

Small family business performance: comparison between family and non-family enterprises

2010

This study compares small family business performance between the Finnish family and non-family enterprises. The sample (2,004 firms) was derived to represent nationally small businesses, in collaboration with the Statistics Finland (Centre) in Helsinki. The answer rate of the study was 90% (data collected by mail questionnaires and telephone interviews). The method of the study was to compare family and non-family enterprises with ROA (return on assets) on an enterprise population level (Finland). The results of the study show that most of the small family businesses are controlled by the founder generation. Founder generation performance was slightly higher than among descendant generatio…
