Antiprotozoal and cysteine proteases inhibitory activity of dipeptidyl enoates

A family of dipeptidyl enoates has been prepared and tested against the parasitic cysteine proteases rhodesain, cruzain and falcipain-2 related to sleeping sickness, Chagas disease and malaria, respectively. They have also been tested against human cathepsins B and L1 for selectivity. Dipeptidyl enoates resulted to be irreversible inhibitors of these enzymes. Some of the members of the family are very potent inhibitors of parasitic cysteine proteases displaying k2nd (M−1s−1) values of seven orders of magnitude. This study investigates the role of context-specific authenticity at work for work-related outcomes (intrinsic motivation, work ability) and depressivity. Furthermore reciprocal relations between work-related authenticity and healthy psychological functioning are investigated. Longitudinal data from 1,243 employees from 63 subsidiaries of a non-profit organisation in the social sector were analysed using multilevel structural equation modelling. Work-related authenticity at T1 predicted work ability and depressivity, but not intrinsic motivation at T2, about 6 months later. AbstractIn this article, we discuss the discursive processes that surround storytelling of traumatic experiences in the case of minor asylum seekers involved in the recent migration flow to Italian ports. We argue that in order to understand not only how traumatic experiences are told but also how they are overcome, it is necessary to focus on the reciprocal relationships and impact of the members of the communities in which migrants are received. Abstract In this article we analyze the role of chronotopes in the formation and negotiation of identities. In particular, we consider the case of a superdiverse community of practice formed by minors asylum seekers and teachers in a school of Italian in Sicily, Italy. In our analysis we stress the role of reciprocity on the ways in which the chronotopic figure of Odysseus is reinterpreted and appropriated by members of this community. Artikkelissamme selvitämme Helsinkiä tarkoittavien slanginimien, Hesan ja Stadin, käyttöä uudentyyppisen aineiston ja menetelmän avulla. Aiemmissa näitä nimiä koskevissa tutkimuksissa lähtökohta on ollut kvalitatiivinen, mutta tässä tutkimuksessa lähdemme liikkeelle laajasta digitaalisesta aineistosta ja tilastollisista menetelmistä. Tutkimuksemme on uusi avaus nimistöntutkimuksessa, ja nimitämme sitä korpusavusteiseksi nimistöntutkimukseksi, lyhyemmin korpusonomastiikaksi.

On the Betti numbers of three fat points in P1 × P1

In these notes we introduce a numerical function which allows us to describe explicitly (and nonrecursively) the Betti numbers, and hence, the Hilbert function of a set Z of three fat points whose support is an almost complete intersection (ACI) in P1 × P1 . A nonrecursively formula for the Betti numbers and the Hilbert function of these configurations is hard to give even for the corresponding set of five points on a special support in P2 and we did not find any kind of this result in the literature. Moreover, we also give a criterion that allows us to characterize the Hilbert functions of these special set of fat points.

2-cinnamamido, 2-(3-phenylpropiolamido) and 2-(3-phenylpropanamido)benzamides: synthesis, antiproliferative activity and mechanism of action

Several new 2-cinnamamido, 2-(3-phenylpropiolamido) and 2-(3-phenylpropanamido)benzamides were synthesized by stirring in pyridine the opportune acid chlorides with the appropriate anthranilamide derivatives. Some of the synthesized compounds were evaluated for their in vitro antiproliferative activity against a panel of 5 human cell lines (K562 human chronic myelogenous leukemia cells, MCF-7 breast cancer cells, HTC-116 and HT26 colon cancer cells and NCI H460 non-small cell lung cancer cells).

There is vast heterogeneity in the human willingness to weigh others' interests in decision making. This heterogeneity concerns the motivational intricacies as well as the strength of other-regarding behaviors, and raises the question how one can parsimoniously model and characterize heterogeneity across several dimensions of social preferences while still being able to predict behavior over time and across situations. We tackle this task with an experiment and a structural model of preferences that allows us to simultaneously estimate outcome-based and reciprocity-based social preferences.
