Chemiluminometric photo-induced determination of Strychnine in a Multicommutation flow assembly

This paper deals on the determination of Strychnine, a potent and dangerous pesticide and the analytical procedure is based on the photo-induced chemiluminescence of the pesticide by means of the Multicommutation continuous-flow methodology. Small segments of the pesticide solution were sequentially alternated with segments of the solution for adjusting the suitable medium for the photodegradation. The required time of UV irradiation was obtained by stopped-flow during 150 s; then, the resulting solution formed alternated segments with the oxidizing solution containing 5 × 10−3 mol l−1 Ce(IV) in 0.6 mol l−1 nitric acid. Mechanism of pulsed electron irradiation of the PLZT X/65/35 ceramics

The comprehensive study of high-current pulsed electron irradiation effect on the structure and lattice dynamics as well as Atomic Force (AFM) and Laser Confocal Scanning microscope (LSCM) surface imaginaries of PLZT 8/65/35 ceramics have been performed. X-ray powder diffraction studies show the transformation of the cubic perovskite Pm-3m (Z = 1) into orthorhombic Pmmm (Z = 1) structure for the sample irradiated by one pulse (dose 6 × 1014 electrons/cm2) and into cubic Pm-3m with increased lattice volume and more ordered structure at irradiating by 10 and 100 pulses (dose 6 × 1015 and 6 × 1016 el/cm2). Keggin heteropolyacid H3PW12O40 supported on different oxides for catalytic and catalytic photo-assisted propene hydration

Catalytic and catalytic photo-assisted hydration of propene to form 2-propanol in gas–solid regime at atmospheric pressure and 85 1C were carried out by using a heteropolyacid (POM) supported on different oxides. Binary materials were prepared by impregnation of H3PW12O40 on different commercial and home prepared supports (TiO2, SiO2, WO3, ZrO2, ZnO, Al2O3). Some of the composites were active both for catalytic and catalytic photo-assisted reactions. Effect of Penetrating Irradiation on Polarization Reversal in PZT Thin Films

Spatially non-uniform imprint behavior induced by X-ray synchrotron, electron, and neutron irradiation has been investigated in Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 thin films. The obtained effects have been explained as a result of acceleration of the bulk screening process induced by irradiation. It has been shown that the spatial distribution of the internal bias field is determined by the domain pattern existing during irradiation. The microstructural changes in the structural characteristics during fatigue cycling have been revealed by high resolution synchrotron X-ray diffraction experiments. Their correlation with the evolution of the switching characteristics has been revealed and discussed.

An XRD, TEM and Raman study of experimentally annealed natural monazite

The healing of radiation damage in natural monazite has been experimentally studied in annealing experiments using XRD, TEM, Raman microprobe and cathodoluminescence analysis. The starting material was a chemically homogeneous monazite from a Brazilian pegmatite with a concordant U–Pb age of 474 ± 1 Ma and a U–Th/He age of 479 Ma. The monazite shows nm-scale defects induced by radioactive decay. The Xray pattern of the unheated starting material revealed two distinct monazite ''phases'' A and B with slightly different lattice parameters. Structural investigation of four-centre photopolymerisation of bis-phthalamic bis-chalcone derivative in the crystalline state

By combining the results obtained from an electron diffraction tilting series with solid state NMR and powder X-ray diffraction, it was possible to determine the unit cell parameters and space group of BPABC crystals grown from DMAA solution both before and after irradiation. Subsequently semi-empirical quantum mechanical and packing energy calculations led to a model structure which agreed well with all the electron diffraction data and thus provided insight into the cross-linking mechanism. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Effect of gamma radiation on thermostimulated exoelectron emission from Gd2O3 films

Abstract The effect of gamma irradiation on Gd2O3 films was studied using the thermostimulated exoelectron emission (TSEE) technique. The films were deposited on a glass and Si/SiO2 substrates using an extraction-pyrolytic method. Crystalline structure, chemical composition, film thickness and surface morphology were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The films were irradiated by 10 MeV gamma photons and TSEE was measured from the irradiated films. New polymorph of InVO4: A high-pressure structure with six-coordinated vanadium

A new wolframite-type polymorph of InVO4 is identified under compression near 7 GPa by in situ high-pressure (HP) X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopic investigations on the stable orthorhombic InVO4. The structural transition is accompanied by a large volume collapse (Delta V/V = -14%) and a drastic increase in bulk modulus (from 69 to 168 GPa). Both techniques also show the existence of a third phase coexisting with the low- and high-pressure phases in a limited pressure range close to the transition pressure. Shear banding mechanism of plastic deformation in LiF irradiated with swift heavy ions

The effect of ion irradiation on the behavior of plastic deformation at micro- and nanoindentation on (001) face of LiF has been investigated. The irradiation was performed using heavy ions (U, Au, Ti and S) with energy in the range from 3 MeV to 2 GeV at fluences up to 5x1013 ions/cm2. In non-irradiated LiF, the indentation produces dislocation gliding on the {110} planes along the and directions. At high fluence irradiation, the resource of the dislocation slip along the preferable directions becomes exhausted due to immobilization of dislocations by radiation defects and their aggregates. Stable and transient color centers in Gd3Ga5O12 crystals

The work is devoted to investigation of stable color centers (CC) that are created in Gd3Ga5O12 (GGG) crystals under irradiation with γ-quanta (E = 1.25 MeV, D = 105 Gy ) as well as transient CC created in the crystals under irradiation with pulsed electron beam (E = 0.25 MeV, pulse duration 10 ns, fluence 1012 cm-2, time interval of registration 0-500 ns). On the basis of the performed study of optical absorption spectra of the as-grown and irradiated crystals it was established the correlation between a defect subsystem of as-grown crystals and a type of CC induced by radiation in the crystals.
