Towards the synthesis of substituted porphyrins by a pyridyl group bearing a reactive functionality

2010

Pyridyl-substituted porphyrins bearing a reactive functionality were prepared via Suzuki cross-coupling reactions and resulted in very good yields. These compounds are precursors of new porphyrin architectures able to coordinate two metals: one in the porphyrin core and the second around the pyridyl moiety. During the coupling reactions, a higher reactivity of a chloro picolyl group was evidenced compared to a bromo function on the same reacting molecule.

Versatile behavior of conjugated diynes with zirconocene reactive species

2008

Thermal decomposition of Cp2ZrPh2 in the presence of the buta-1,3-diynes RC≡CC≡CR (R = Ph, SiMe3) can lead to seven- or five-membered metallacycles. In both cases a stable benzo-fused seven-membered zirconacyclocumulene arising from a 2-fold insertion of the triple bonds of the dialkyne in the in situ generated zirconocene benzyne is formed. In the case of Me3SiC≡CC≡CSiMe3 a second minor complex is isolated: a 3-alkynyl-substituted zirconaindene arising from a β monoinsertion of one acetylenic function of the conjugated diyne in the zirconocene benzyne. No stable 2-alkynyl-substituted zirconacycle was isolated. This α monoinsertion complex is an intermediate in the exchange of the metalated…

Insight into the Mechanism of Water Adsorption/Desorption in Hydrophilic Viologen-Carboxylate Based PCP

2017

A water stable and highly hydrophilic porous coordination polymer based on viologen-carboxylate type ligand, the 4,4′-bipyridinium,1,1-bis(3-carboxyphenyl) (pc2), is obtained by the solvothermal method: [Cd3(pc2) (BTC)2(H2O)2]·6H2O ([1(H2O)2]·6H2O; BTC3– = 1,3,5-carboxybenzene). Its crystal structure and the ones of two partially dehydrated phases have been determined, allowing insight into the mechanism of water adsorption/desorption of this PCP material. It is shown that the dehydrated compound [1] first adsorbs two water molecules which fill the pores, leading to [1]·2H2O. On the other hand, the partial dehydration of the as-synthesized compound leads to the intermediate phase [1(H2O)]·3…

Hierarchical Beta zeolites as catalysts in a one-pot three-component cascade Prins–Friedel–Crafts reaction

2020

Hierarchical Beta zeolites obtained from concentrated reaction mixtures (H2O/Si = 2.5–7.0) in the presence of CTAB and their conventional and nanosponge analogues were investigated in a one-pot cascade environmentally friendly Prins–Friedel–Crafts reaction of butyraldehyde with 3-buten-1-ol and anisole under mild conditions (60 °C). The highest yields of the desired products with 4-aryltetrahydropyran structure were achieved when using hierarchical zeolites characterised by well-developed mesoporosity (facilitating the formation of bulky intermediates and products) and by an increased fraction of highly accessible (evaluated by TTBPy method) medium-strength Bronsted acid sites. Acid sites w…

A family of layered chiral porous magnets exhibiting tunable ordering temperatures.

2013

A simple change of the substituents in the bridging ligand allows tuning of the ordering temperatures, Tc, in the new family of layered chiral magnets A[M(II)M(III)(X2An)3]·G (A = [(H3O)(phz)3](+) (phz = phenazine) or NBu4(+); X2An(2-) = C6O4X2(2-) = 2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-benzoquinone derivative dianion, with M(III) = Cr, Fe; M(II) = Mn, Fe, Co, etc.; X = Cl, Br, I, H; G = water or acetone). Depending on the nature of X, an increase in Tc from ca. 5.5 to 6.3, 8.2, and 11.0 K (for X = Cl, Br, I, and H, respectively) is observed in the MnCr derivative. Furthermore, the presence of the chiral cation [(H3O)(phz)3](+), formed by the association of a hydronium ion with three phenazine molecules, lead…

Triorganotin( iv ) cation-promoted dimethyl carbonate synthesis from CO 2 and methanol: solution and solid-state characterization of an unexpected di…

2018

Two novel C,N-chelated organotin(IV) complexes bearing weakly coordinating carborane moieties were prepared by the reaction of the corresponding C,N-chelated organotin(IV) chloride (i.e. LCNR2SnCl, R = n-Bu (1) and Ph (2); LCN = 2-(N,N-dimethylaminomethyl)phenyl)) with monocarba-closo-dodecaborate silver salt (AgCB11H12; Ag·3). Both products of the metathesis, [LCN(n-Bu)2Sn]+[CB11H12]− (4) and [LCNPh2Sn]+ [CB11H12]− (5), respectively, were characterized by both multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The instability of 4 and 5 towards water is discussed. The solid-state structure of LCN(n-Bu)2SnOH·B(C6F5)3 (4a) as a model compound with a Sn–O(H)⋯B linkage is also reported. The…

Insights into the crystal packing of phosphorylporphyrins based on the topology of their intermolecular interaction energies

2014

Four metal complexes of 5,15-bis(diethoxyphosphoryl)-10,20-diphenylporphyrin 1M (M = Cd(II), Ni(II), Pd(II), and Pt(II)) were synthesized and crystallographically characterized. The crystal organization patterns were analyzed using DFT (B97-D3/def2-SVP) calculations of the intermolecular interaction energies between complexes in the crystals. For the systematic analysis of crystal packing, the calculations were extended to previously reported compounds 1M (M = H2, Cu(II), and Zn(II)). Quantitative analysis of the interaction energies shows the essential role of weak intermolecular interactions, such as C-H⋯O, C-H⋯π and M⋯π, in the formation of basic structural motifs and their organization …

Synthesis of 1,3-bis(trimethylcyclam) and 1,3-bis(trimethylcyclen) substituted benzenes

2009

Pd-catalyzed amination of 1,3-dibromobenzene with N,N',N''-trimethylcyclam and N,N',N''-trimethylcyclen provided corresponding 1,3-bis(tetraazamacrocyclic) derivatives of benzene in 25-32% yields. The dependence of the products yields on the phosphine ligand applied (BINAP, DavePHOS) as well as on the stoichiometry of starting compounds was established. Scope and limitations for the synthesis of N-phenyl and N-(3-bromophenyl) derivatives of trimethylcyclam and trimethylcyclen were demonstrated.
