Candidatus Neoehrlichia mikurensis is an emerging tick-borne pathogen. It is widely distributed in Ixodes ricinus ticks in Europe, but knowledge of its distribution in Norway, where I. ricinus reaches its northern limit, is limited. The article considers Cervantes's classical work through the prism of retrotopia, as understood in late Bauman. Retrotopia is a double negation of utopia, an attempt to return to an imaginary past, which usually happens in the face of an uncertain future. Use of Flow Cytometry for Producing Tetraploids in Red Clover

Abstract Sprouts of diploid red clover ‘Stendes Agrais’ were treated with 0.2% colchicine solution. The ploidy level of plants was detected by flow cytometry. Most of the treated plants were mixoploids and sterile. From progenies of fertile plants, mixoploids were selected that had a proportion of tetraploid cells higher than 60%. In the next generation, stable tetraploid plants were selected, and 49 lines were included in the breeding process.

BAZ1B is an ubiquitously expressed nuclear protein with roles in chromatin remodelling, DNA replication and repair, and transcription. Reduced baz1b expression disrupts neuronal and neural crest development. Variation in the activity of baz1b has been proposed to underly morphological and behavioural aspects of domestication through disruption of neural crest development. The aim of this study was to determine the occurrence of tick-borne pathogens of medical importance in questing ticks collected from five recreationally used islands along the Norwegian coastline. Furthermore, since coinfection may affect the disease severity, this study aimed to determine the extent of coinfection in individual ticks or co-localization of tick-borne pathogens.
