Failure analysis of normally-off GaN HEMTs under avalanche conditions

2020

Gallium nitride (GaN) high electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs) are promising devices in the power electronics field owing to their wide bandgap (WBG). However, all the potential advantages provided by their WBG require reliability improvement. In industrial applications, robustness is one of the main factors considered by circuit designers. This study focuses on the observation of the degradation behavior of the main waveforms of unclamped inductive-switching (UIS) test circuits of two different commercial GaN HEMT structures. The relevance of this study lies in the potential applications of these devices to high-voltage applications and automotive systems where they are subjected to many…

Size dependent light absorption modulation and enhanced carrier transport in germanium quantum dots devices

2015

Quantum confinement in closely packed arrays of Ge quantum dots (QDs) was studied for energy applications. In this work, we report an efficient tuning mechanism of the light harvesting and detection of Ge QDs. Thin films of SiGeO alloys, produced by rf-magnetron sputtering, were annealed at 600 degrees C in N-2 to induce precipitation of small amorphous Ge QDs into the oxide matrix. Varying the Ge content, the QD size was tailored between 2 and 4 nm, as measured by high resolution transmission electron microscopy. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements indicate the formation of pure SiO2, as well as the presence of a sub-stoichiometric Ge oxide shell at the QD interface. Light …

Premedication with oral solution of simethicone plus N-acetylcysteine to improve the quality upper GI endoscopy: Initial experience

2020

Introduction: To assess the efficacy and safety of simethicone with or without N-acetylcysteine (NAC) as premedications before gastroscopy. Materials and methods: Patients were randomized into 5 groups. Endoscopic visibility was evaluated in 4 districts (esophagus, gastric body, fundus and antrum) using a visual scale, graduating from 1 to 4 points. Results: There was no significant difference on the rate of positive findings when comparing simethicone with simethicone plus NAC and with water, respectively. Simethicone plus NAC showed better total mucosal visibility score than simethicone alone. Both simethicone plus NAC and simethicone alone offer more benefit than water. The procedure tim…

EMPATIA E BISOGNO DI DIGNITA' DELLA PERSONA

2013

Managing coopetition in diversified firms: Insights from a qualitative case study

2022

Abstract Cooperation among divisions is usually thought to explain the performance of diversification strategies. However, such divisions are also in competition. Through the in-depth analysis of an intraindustry diversified firm operating in the global semiconductor industry, this paper identifies the sources of coopetition and the treatment of coopetitive tensions among divisions in the production allocation process. We find a multipoint origin of cooperation within a competitive setting. Then, we extend a previous study that considers uniquely two substitute views: (a) corporate-centric; and (b) division-centric. Additionally, by employing formal organizational mechanisms, we show that c…

Valores del mar en la obra de Pedro Ferrer Calatayud

2010

This paper seeks to offer an interpretation of the seascape work of Valencian painter Pedro Ferrer Calatayud (1860-1944). Starting from his artistic context, two essential values of the seascape aesthetics can be found in Ferrer's paintings: firstly depth, which is linked to the abyss and represented by the shipwreck, and then temporality, linked to eternity and the cyclical time and rendered through the relationship of the sea with other elements in nature. Our analysis proves that the sea in this painter, far from being merely a subject, was also a means of searching new ideological values and technical ways which would eventually lead to fresh artistic trends in the early 20th century.

A novel pro-apoptotic role of zinc octacarboxyphthalocyanine in melanoma me45 cancer cell's photodynamic therapy (PDT)

2018

Abstract Zn-based phthalocyanine acts as drug or photosensitizer in photodynamic therapy (PDT) for the treatment of cancer cells. The activated zinc octacarboxyphthalocyanine (ZnPcOC) reacts with oxygen, to generate reactive oxygen species for the damage of melanoma cancer cells, Me45. This in vitro study aimed at investigating the cytotoxic effects of different concentrations of ZnPcOC activated with a diode laser (λ = 685 nm) on Me45, and normal human fibroblast cells, NHDF. To perform this study 104 cells/ml were seeded in 96-well plates and allowed to attach overnight, after which cells were treated with different concentrations of ZnPcOC (10, 20 and 30 μM). After 4 h, cells were irradi…

Caspase 3 Targeted Cargo Delivery in Apoptotic Cells Using Capped Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles

2015

[EN] Excessive apoptotic cell death is at the origin of several pathologies, such as degenerative disorders, stroke or ischemia-reperfusion damage. In this context, strategies to improve inhibition of apoptosis and other types of cell death are of interest and may represent a pharmacological opportunity for the treatment of cell-death-related disorders. In this scenario new peptide-containing delivery systems (solids S1-P1and S1-P2) are described based on meso-porous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) loaded with a dye and capped with the KKGDEVDKKARDEVDK (P1) peptide that contains two repeats of the DEVD target sequence that are selectively hydrolyzed by caspase3 (C3). This enzyme plays a central…

Singular quasisymmetric mappings in dimensions two and greater

2018

For all $n \geq 2$, we construct a metric space $(X,d)$ and a quasisymmetric mapping $f\colon [0,1]^n \rightarrow X$ with the property that $f^{-1}$ is not absolutely continuous with respect to the Hausdorff $n$-measure on $X$. That is, there exists a Borel set $E \subset [0,1]^n$ with Lebesgue measure $|E|>0$ such that $f(E)$ has Hausdorff $n$-measure zero. The construction may be carried out so that $X$ has finite Hausdorff $n$-measure and $|E|$ is arbitrarily close to 1, or so that $|E| = 1$. This gives a negative answer to a question of Heinonen and Semmes.

Immunoproteasome and Non-Covalent Inhibition: Exploration by Advanced Molecular Dynamics and Docking Methods

2021

The selective inhibition of immunoproteasome is a valuable strategy to treat autoimmune, inflammatory diseases, and hematologic malignancies. Recently, a new series of amide derivatives as non-covalent inhibitors of the β1i subunit with Ki values in the low/submicromolar ranges have been identified. Here, we investigated the binding mechanism of the most potent and selective inhibitor, N-benzyl-2-(2-oxopyridin-1(2H)-yl)propanamide (1), to elucidate the steps from the ligand entrance into the binding pocket to the ligand-induced conformational changes. We carried out a total of 400 ns of MD-binding analyses, followed by 200 ns of plain MD. The trajectories clustering allowed identifying thre…
