MRT bei chronischer Epicondylitis humeri radialis an einem 1,0 T-Gerät - Kontrastmittelgabe notwendig?
2001
T: Is Gd-DTPA administration useful Purpose: Evaluation of the diagnostic value and confidence of contrast-enhanced MR imaging in patients with lateral epicondylitis in comparison to clinical diagnosis. Material and Methods: 42 consecutive patients with clinically proven chronic lateral epicondylitis and 10 ellbow joints of healthy controls have been examined on a 1.0 T MR-unit. Criteria for inclusion in the prospective study were: persistant pain and a failed conservative therapy. The MR protocol included STIR sequence, a native, T 2 -weighted, fat-supressed TSE sequence, and a Flash-2-D sequence. Also, fatsupressed, T 1 -weighted SE sequences before and after administration of Gd-DTPA con…
Alpha-dihydroergocryptine in the treatment of de novo parkinsonian patients: results ofa multicentre, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled st…
2000
INTRODUCTION A multicentre, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group study was carried out in 123 patients suffering from never treated (de novo) idiopathic Parkinson's disease (PD). The aim of the study was to confirm the efficiency and safety of alpha-dihydroergocryptine (alpha-DHEC) given as monotherapy in the symptomatic treatment of PD. The total score of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) was identified as the efficacy target variable. PATIENTS AND METHODS Sixty-two patients (32 males, 30 females, mean age +/- SD 64 +/- 10) were randomized to alpha-dihydroergocryptine and 61 (30 males, 31 females, mean age 63.8 +/- 9.1) to placebo. According to th…
The efficacy of muscle energy techniques in symptomatic and asymptomatic subjects: a systematic review
2019
Abstract Background Muscle energy techniques are applied to reduce pain and increase range of motion. These are applied to a variety of pathological conditions and on asymptomatic subjects. There is however limited knowledge on their effectiveness and which protocol may be the most beneficial. Objective The aim of this review is to determine the efficacy of muscle energy techniques (MET) in symptomatic and asymptomatic subjects. Design Systematic Review. Methods A literature search was performed using the following database: Cochrane Library, MEDLINE, NLM Pubmed and ScienceDirect. Studies regarding MET in asymptomatic and symptomatic patients were considered for investigation. The main outc…
Sulcus ulnaris Syndrom nach Traumen im Ellenbogenbereich
2008
For a large scaled test 52 patients with anterior transposition of the ulnar nerve and 62 patients with elbow injuries were examined by questionnaire, physical examination and electroneurography. In conformity with existing literature 24 patients out of 52 suffering from cubital tunnel syndrome had an elbow trauma previously. To our great surprise in seven patients out of 46 with elbow injuries a cubital tunnel syndrome could be found for the first time. The cubital tunnel syndrome appears to be a frequent complication of elbow injuries. Besides the well known fractures of the medial epicondyle and pericondylar fractures leading to cubital tunnel syndrome, in our study fractures of the head…
Pancoast's syndrome caused by lymph node metastasis from breast cancer.
2018
Pancoast’s syndrome may be the result of neoplastic, inflammatory or infectious disease. We report an unusual case of Pancoast’s syndrome in a patient with metastatic breast cancer. A 54-year-old woman, affected by metastatic breast cancer, presented for severe shoulder pain, paraesthesia and numbness in the right arm. Despite further multiple lines of systemic chemotherapy, she developed a progressive enlargement of retropectoral, supraclavicular and infraclavicular lymph node metastases, which involved brachial plexus, apex of lung and anterior mediastinum. Physical examination revealed severe weakness of proximal muscles of the right arm. Neuropathic pain was managed with pharmacological…
Salts of 5-amino-2-sulfonamide-1,3,4-thiadiazole, a structural and analog of acetazolamide, show interesting carbonic anhydrase inhibitory properties…
2015
Three salts of 5-amino-2-sulfonamide-1,3,4-thiadiazole (Hats) were prepared and characterized by physico-chemical methods. The p-toluensulfonate, the methylsulfonate, and the chlorhydrate monohydrate salts of Hats were evaluated as carbonic anhydrase (CA, EC 4.2.1.1) inhibitors (CAIs) and as anticonvulsants and diuretics, since many CAIs are clinically used as pharmacological agents. The three Hats salts exhibited diuretic and anticonvulsant activities with little neurotoxicity. The human (h) isoforms hCA I, II, IV, VII, IX, and XII were inhibited in their micromolar range by these salts, whereas pathogenic beta and gamma CAs showed similar, weak inhibitory profiles.

The work of art, now in the Diocesan Museum in Palermo, is a detached 12th century mosaic possibly from the chapel of Saint Mary Magdalene in the Cathedral, where members of the Hauteville family were buried, commissioned by Queen Elvira Bei dem Kunstwerk, das sich heute im Diözesanmuseum in Palermo befindet, handelt es sich um ein freistehendes Mosaik aus dem 12. Jahrhundert, das möglicherweise aus der Kapelle der Heiligen Maria Magdalena in der K…

Amplicon-based high-throughput pooled sequencing identifies mutations in CYP7B1 and SPG7 in sporadic spastic paraplegia patients
2011
Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a neurodegenerative disorder defined clinically by progressive lower limb spasticity and weakness. HSP is a genetically highly heterogeneous condition with at least 46 gene loci identified so far, involving X-linked, autosomal recessive (AR) and autosomal dominant inheritance. For correct diagnosis, molecular testing is essential because clinical parameters by themselves are not reliable to differentiate HSP forms. The purpose of this study was to establish amplicon-based high-throughput genotyping for AR-HSP. A sample of 187 index cases with apparently sporadic or recessive spastic paraplegia were analyzed by applying an array-based amplification stra…
