M-valued Measure of Roughness for Approximation of L-fuzzy Sets and Its Topological Interpretation
2015
We develop a scheme allowing to measure the “quality” of rough approximation of fuzzy sets. This scheme is based on what we call “an approximation quadruple” \((L,M,\varphi ,\psi )\) where L and M are cl-monoids (in particular, \(L=M=[0,1]\)) and \(\psi : L \rightarrow M\) and \(\varphi : M \rightarrow L\) are satisfying certain conditions mappings (in particular, they can be the identity mappings). In the result of realization of this scheme we get measures of upper and lower rough approximation for L-fuzzy subsets of a set equipped with a reflexive transitive M-fuzzy relation R. In case the relation R is also symmetric, these measures coincide and we call their value by the measure of rou…
Identity dynamics and social partitions : the case of identity "racial" Blacks in France
2011
Our research work investigates - from a psycho-social point of view - the «racial» identity of the black population in France, notably in their relation with the white population, so as to point up the identity dynamics that exist between the various groups. The theoretical framework is related to social grouping and one of its developments, i.e. the concept of social partitioning. Such conception is based on the existence of several types of inter-category relations (partitioning) that allow apprehending the nature of individuals’ identity positioning within the framework of an inter-group relation and make it dynamic through the notion of co-construction. Our methodology is based mainly o…
The political attribution of values to Intangible Cultural Heritage: the consuetudinary courts
2021
2018
[EN] Exhibition's stage has become a changing exercise over time, linked to a way of thinking historically the work. There are new museographic responses born of the participation of artists, architects and designers, and the role of the curator who, at times, transforms his role as theoretician in artist. Following this evolutionary dynamic, the exhibition has thus forged an almost independent identity of the museum itself. The meaning of the work in the place develops a new grammar that turns the exhibition into a work of art and also opens a debate around its current role
Rūdolfs Blaumanis, the Dreyfus Affair and the Anglo-Boer War: Colonial difference and identity construction infin-de-siècleLatvian society
2017
This article offers an insight into the social and cultural scene in Latvia at the end of the nineteenth century. The territory of this Baltic state was then still part of the Russian Empire, divided among several of its provinces. However, this was also a period when the cultural aspirations of the rising Latvian middle class were represented by the gradual attempts to raise the self-esteem of the entire local population. The article focuses on the role that Latvian writer Rūdolfs Blaumanis (1863–1908) played in encouraging Latvians to understand themselves as a self-confident people during the fin-de-siècle period. The first part examines articles published by Blaumanis in the Latvian pre…
The Double-Deviant Identity of the Mass-Foreigner and the Lack of Authority of the Crimmigrationist State
2019
Crimmigration has its breeding ground in dystopian and securitarian narratives. The anti-hero of these narratives is the mass-foreigner, a stereotyped version of the foreigner usually depicted, alternatively or cumulatively, as an enemy or as a parasite of host societies. But not only does crimmigration presuppose such narratives (and the deviant identity of the mass-foreigner, which is connected with them) as a source of legitimation, it also fuels these same narratives by providing them with an official sanction: by merging criminalization and irregularization on a legal level, it heavily contributes to making the social identity of mass-foreigners into a doubly deviant one. The overarchi…

"[English] is a part of who I am" : investigating English majors' linguistic identities
2016
Vaikka monikielisyys ei olekaan uusi ilmiö, on siitä esimerkiksi kehittyvän teknologian ja kansainvälisen liikkuvuuden kautta tullut yhä näkyvämpi osa nykypäivän maailmaa. Englannin leviäminen ympäri maailmaa on yksi osa tätä kehitystä, ja esimerkiksi Suomessa englanti on erityisen tärkeässä osassa kansainvälisen kommunikoinnin kielenä. Erityisen tärkeä monikielisyyden ja englannin rooli on suomalaisten yliopisto-opiskelijoiden elämässä, jotka opiskelevat pääaineenaan englantia. Monikielisyyden vaikutuksista puhuttaessa on tärkeää ottaa huomioon myös identiteetti, koska nykypäivän kielitieteellisessä tutkimuksessa katsotaan kielen ja identiteetin suhteen olevan erittäin vankka. Tämän tutkim…
Beyond material factors? Identity, culture and the foreign and security policy of the EU
2015
The evolution of European integration in the field foreign, security and defence policy and the coordination practices established by EU member states cannot be fully explained by looking at material factors only. The chapter adds to the picture the importance of identity, and, in particular, the we-feeling typical of belonging to a security community and security culture in the evolution of the practices adopted for the international projection of the EU and its member states. In consideration of the importance that support to the UN has acquired since the 2003 ESS, both as a strategic priority and as a constitutive element of the EU identity, the chapter focuses on the coordination practi…
