Improved estimation of the left ventricular ejection fraction using a combination of independent automated segmentation results in cardiovascular mag…

2014

—This work aimed at combining different segmenta-tion approaches to produce a robust and accurate segmentation result. Three to five segmentation results of the left ventricle were combined using the STAPLE algorithm and the reliability of the resulting segmentation was evaluated in comparison with the result of each individual segmentation method. This comparison was performed using a supervised approach based on a reference method. Then, we used an unsupervised statistical evaluation, the extended Regression Without Truth (eRWT) that ranks different methods according to their accuracy in estimating a specific biomarker in a population. The segmentation accuracy was evaluated by focusing o…

Analysis of fluorescent MRI contrast agent behavior in the liver and thoracic aorta of mice.

2004

To characterize the behavior of magnetofluorescent products injected in mice intravenously. The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) products were labelled with fluorescent molecules to examine the biodistribution process in vivo and observe them at the cellular level by means of confocal microscopy. Three-dimensional (3D) sequences of images were obtained by spectral analysis of sample preparations in a multiphoton confocal microscope and analyzed by the factor analysis of medical image sequence algorithm, which provides factor curves. Factor images are the result of image-processing methods that utilize information from emission spectra. Preparations are also screened in the counting mode to p…

Left-Ventricle Segmentation of SPECT Images of Rats

2015

Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging of the heart is helpful to quantify the left-ventricular ejection fraction and study myocardial perfusion scans. However, these evaluations require a 3-D segmentation of the left-ventricular wall on each phase of the cardiac cycle. This paper presents a fast and interactive graph cut method for 3-D segmentation of the left ventricle (LV) of rats in SPECT images. The method is carried out in three steps. First, 3-D sampling of the LV cavity is made in a spherical-cylindrical coordinate system. Then, a graph-cut-based energy minimization procedure provides delineation of the myocardium centerline surface. From there, it is possible to…

First steps toward the generation of PET/MR attenuation map in the case of prostate cancer

2015

Congrès sous l’égide de la Société Française de Génie Biologique et Médical (SFGBM).; National audience; A new methodology providing the first step towards the generation of attenuation maps for PET/MR systems based solely on MR information is presented in this paper. From T1-and T2-weighted MR data set and anatomical-based knowledge, our method segments and classifies the attenuation-differing regions of the patient's pelvis using a robust implementation of the weighted fuzzy C-means algorithm. Providing no signal, particular process is performed for the bones. We have demonstrated the feasibility of this approach by correctly segmenting and classifying six attenuation-differing regions on…

Vers le développement d'un capteur photoplétysmographique sans contact

2019

Heart-rate estimation performed with remote photoplethysmography is a very active research field. Since pioneer works in 2010, which demonstrated the feasibility of the measure with low-grade consumers’ camera (webcam), the number of scientific publications have increased significantly in the domain. Hence, we observe a multiplication of the methods in order to retrieve the photoplethysmographic signal which has led to an increased precision and quality of the heart-rate estimation. Region of interest segmentation is a key step of the processing pipeline in order to maximize the quality of the measured signal. We propose a new method to perform remote photoplethysmographic measurement using…

Terahertz Biomedical Imaging: From Multivariate Analysis and Detection to Material Parameter Extraction

2017

Terahertz imaging is an interesting route for biomedical analysis. In particular, cancer imaging is a subject of study for different teams [1,2]. A work is done in Bordeaux in partnership with a hospital to do terahertz analysis of breast tissue. This work is done in reflection with time domain imaging setup with fresh samples. The aim is to accurately assess tumor margins and which could in the future allow a quick validation of the precision of the surgical procedure and know if new surgery should be performed. We have presented in a previous paper [3] the use of automatic methods of image generation with different parameters [4] in order to explore the different contrasts that exist in t…

Retinal vascular network: description in elderly and pathological process

2020

For more than 10 years, description of the retinal microvascular network has benefited from the development of new imaging techniques. Automatic retinal images analysis software, as well as OCT angiography, are able to highlight subtle and early changes in the retinal vascular network. In addition, these software allow to obtain a large amount of quantitative microvascular parameters which improve the characterization of retinal vascularization. The challenge of current research is to demonstrate the association between these microvascular modifications, systemic vascular aging process and cerebral and cardiovascular disease. Indeed, a physiopathological continuum exists between retinal mic…

Marquage de molécules biologiques par des complexes de radiométaux à base de polyamines macrocycliques

2012

This work conducted at the “Institut de Chimie Moléculaire de l’Université de Bourgogne” carries at first on the synthesis of bifunctional chelating agents suitable for the chelation of trivalent radiometals, including indium-111. The greater part of this work was then dedicated to the grafting of a DOTA derivative bifunctional chelating agent on different antibodies or fragments of monoclonal antibodies: trastuzumab (anti-HER2 treatment of breast cancer), cetuximab (anti EGFR, treatment of many cancers, including colorectal cancer) and abciximab (antiplatelet). Particular attention was paid to the characterization of various immunoconjugates. The critical step of this thesis consisted in t…
