This article describes the classification of endoleaks after endovascular treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms, thereby summarizing the most important problems of this endovascular technique. The correct classification of endoleaks is a prerequisite for interdisciplinary discussion. It is indispensable for professional reporting of the pathological findings and for the decision making as to the adequate treatment of endoleaks. Eleven patients treated by anticoagulants or lytic therapy suffered bleeding into the abdominal muscles, resulting in neurological symptoms or those of an acute abdomen. By means of CT it was possible to demonstrate the bleeds and to clarify the differential diagnosis, thereby leading to correct treatment. The possibility of early diagnosis of haemorrhages makes CT a suitable and reliable method.

The Valencia applicators (Nucletron, an Elekta company, Elekta AB, Stockholm, Sweden) are cup-shaped tungsten applicators with a flattening filter used to collimate the radiation produced by a high-dose-rate (HDR) 192 Ir source, and provide a homogeneous absorbed dose at a given depth. This beam quality provides a good option for the treatment of skin lesions at shallow depth (3-4 mm).
