Abstract Cathodic reductions of 2,2′-furils in the presence of N-arylcarbonimidoyl dichlorides lead to 2-arylimino-4,5-di(2-furyl)-1,3-dioxoles in high yields, along with minor amounts of (E)-1,2-di(2-furyl)vinylene bis(N-arylchloroformimidates). HF and B3LYP density functional theory methods have been applied to the determination of molecular geometries and to study the topomerization mechanism of aryliminodioxoles. The molecular structure of (E)-1,2-di(2-furyl)vinylene bis[N-(2-chloro-4-methylphenyl)chloroformimidate] has been determined by X-ray crystallography and compared with the calculated structure.

A series of [OsII(NN)(CO)2Cl2] complexes where NN is a 2,2′-bipyridine ligand substituted in the 4,4′ positions by H (C1), CH3 (C2), C(CH3)3 (C3), or C(O)OCH(CH3)2 (C4) has been studied as catalysts for the reduction of CO2. Electrocatalysis shows that the selectivity of the reaction can be switched toward the production of CO or HCOO− with an electron-donating (C2, C3) or -withdrawing (C4) substituent, respectively. The electrocatalytic process is a result of the formation of an Os0-bonded polymer, which was characterized by electrochemistry, UV/Visible and EPR spectroscopies. [EN] Unlike their isocyano and isothiocyanato analogues, isocyanato esters remain almost unexplored as formal 1,3-dipoles in asymmetric catalytic reactions. The first asymmetric formal [3+2] cycloaddition involving isocyanato esters and electrophilic alkenes is reported. Diisopropyl 2-isocyanatomalonate reacts with a,b-unsaturated N-(o-anisidyl) imines in the presence of a Mg(OTf)2¿BOX complex to give highly substituted chiral pyrrolidinones featuring a conjugate exocyclic double bond with excellent yields and enantiomeric excesses up to 99%. Several transformations of the resulting heterocycles, including the synthesis of a pyroglutamic acid derivative, have been carried out.

Feature selection (FS) may improve the performance, cost-efficiency, and understandability of supervised machine learning models. In this paper, FS for the recently introduced distance-based supervised machine learning model is considered for regression problems. The study is contextualized by first providing an umbrella review (review of reviews) of recent development in the research field. We then propose a saliency-based one-shot wrapper algorithm for FS, which is called MAS-FS. This article reviews research on the Finnish model of peer‐group mentoring (PGM). The theoretical foundation of the model is based on the constructivist theory of learning, the concept of autonomy in teaching profession, peer learning, and narrative identity work. The model has been disseminated nationwide in the educational sector to promote professional development of teachers and educational staff, mainly in primary and secondary education, but also in early childhood education and higher education.
