This dissertation focuses on Finnish language learning opportunities in cleaning work, which is the most common job for immigrants in Finland. The study investigates what opportunities and constraints there are for Finnish language learning in cleaning work, how a work community supports language learning, and what factors facilitate or constrain investment in language learning at work. Language learning opportunities are explored from an ecological approach as affordances – the reciprocal relations between an individual and his/her social and physical environment. Connectivity between education and workplaces is often seen as a central element in preparing students for the future labour market. This chapter presents findings from a study that examined strengthening the connectivity between Finnish higher education institutions and workplaces. The study focused on 11 work-related study modules where students carried out commissioned assignments or projects from companies or public sector organisations. Rapid changes in working life have raised awareness of the need for lifelong learning among personnel, and there is increasing concern regarding the sustainability of such learning, especially in growth companies, where learning can be seen as a prerequisite for many work practices. Tutkimukseni kohteena on epäasiallisen työpaikkakäyttäytymisen ja työpaikkakiusaamisen ilmiö. Lähestyn aihetta kvalitatiivisin tutkimusmenetelmin, aineistonani Yhteiskuntatieteellisestä tietoarkistosta löytyvä laadullinen tutkimusaineisto: FSD2607 Tarinat pelosta ja pelottelusta työelämässä. Käytetty tutkimusaineisto sisältää 101 yksilöiden omin sanoin kertomaa tarinaa heidän kokemistaan epäasiallisuuksista työpaikoilla. Kiinnostukseni tässä opinnäytetyössä on kohdistunut, paitsi selvittämään, minkälaisesta ilmiöstä epäasiallisessa työpaikkakäyttäytymisessä ja työpaikkakiusaamisessa oikein on kyse, nimenomaan yksilöiden kokemuksilleen antamiin merkityksiin.
