Life-Space and Life-World
2000
For me, the main question is this: can a common thematic ground be found for both phenomenology and those philosophical discourses that rest on sciences of life? Or, rather, has the fundamentality of life matters perhaps put an end to phenomenology as a primary grounding discipline? What if the “direct givenness”, proposed by Husserl, cannot give us insight into that-which-lives, thus marking the impossibility of phenomenology as a universal and strict science? Could it really be that consciousness, with its constitutive activities, is exactly that-which-lives?
Limited preparation contextuality in quantum theory and its relation to the Cirel'son bound
2015
Kochen-Specker (KS) theorem lies at the heart of the foundations of quantum mechanics. It establishes impossibility of explaining predictions of quantum theory by any noncontextual ontological model. Spekkens generalized the notion of KS contextuality in [Phys. Rev. A 71, 052108 (2005)] for arbitrary experimental procedures (preparation, measurement, and transformation procedure). Interestingly, later on it was shown that preparation contextuality powers parity-oblivious multiplexing [Phys. Rev. Lett. 102, 010401 (2009)], a two party information theoretic game. Thus, using resources of a given operational theory, the maximum success probability achievable in such a game suffices as a \emph{…
Populismin väkevöityminen
2020
Peasantry is neither created nor destroyed, it can only be transformed. Agrarian discourses in the Delta de l’Ebre and the Albufera de València
2018
The following pages summarize the analysis of agrarian and environmental discourses and social representations in the Ebro Delta and the Albufera of Valencia. The first part of the article tries to synthesize in a theoretical way the evolution and perspectives of family agriculture. We intend to analyze the essential changes that have taken place in agriculture and have made it survive, despite the theoretical prognosis that announced the end of the familiar agriculture. The second part addresses the methodological question of our research. We have conducted 58 interviews and two discussion groups in which different social profiles have participated. The analysis of social discourses was co…
2018
Ghosts in a shining desert or the solitude of the palimpsests reader. Stories of the return in Max Aub, Francisco Ayala and Arturo Barea worksDuring the long years of exile, writers like Max Aub, Francisco Ayala or Arturo Barea wrote stories in which they fictionalized the returns of the exiles before their own returns occurred. This is the case of the works collected in Las vueltas 1965 originally written in 1947, 1960 and 1964, and of Max Aub’s story “El remate” 1965, of “El regreso”, by Francisco Ayala 1948 and of the novel La raíz rota by Arturo Barea 1951. In this article I intend to draw the common lines of meaning between all these fictions and compare them with La gallina ciega. Dia…
Rethinking Deinstitutionalization: Exploring the Boundary Conditions for Abandoning and Decoupling Highly Diffused and Institutionalized Practices
2020
Deinstitutionalization of taken-for-granted practices as a natural consequence of ever increasing entropy seems to directly contradict the major institutional thesis, namely, that over time isomorphic forces increase and, as a result, possibilities for deinstitutionalization decrease culminating in the impossibility of abandoning in highly institutionalized fields. We argue that the possibilities for deinstitutionalization have been overestimated in organizational literature and offer a revisited account of deinstitutionalization vs. institutional isomorphism and institutionalized vs. highly diffusing-but-not-institutionalized practices. A freedom for choice between alternative practices ex…
In this paper I analyze some characteristics of ideological discourse and point out some of the profound differences between science and ideology. Then I address the conditions that would have to be met so that an ideological discourse could be scientific, and the reasons that would support the impossibility of such discourse be…
El animal y el hombre. Derrida lector de Heidegger
2020
