Chemosensory Receptors in the Larval Maxilla of Papilio hospiton

2022

Among the butterflies of the genus Papilio (Lepidoptera: Papilionidae), Papilio hospiton (Géné) has a geographical distribution limited to the Mediterranean islands of Sardinia (Italy) and Corsica (France). This is mainly due to the host range that includes only a few plant species of Apiaceae and Rutaceae growing on these islands. In a previous electrophysiological investigation conducted on the maxillary gustatory system of larvae of P. hospiton and its closely phylogenetically related species Papilio machaon, a significantly higher spike activity was shown for the gustatory neurons of lateral and medial styloconic sensilla in P. hospiton when bitter compounds were tested. This effect was…

First report of Antigastra catalaunalis on sesame in Greece.

2017

Factores desencadenantes del perjuicio de los simúlidos

2021

Bonding efficacy of an acetone/based etch-and-rinse adhesive after dentin deproteinization

2012

Objectives: to evaluate the effect of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) treatment on dentin bonding by means of shear bond strength (SBS) measurements when using Prime&Bond NT (PB NT) adhesive. Ultrastructure of the interfaces was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Study design: Extracted human third molars were sectioned and ground to expose flat surfaces of superficial or deep dentin. Specimens were randomly assigned to two equal groups, and bonded as follows: (1) according to the manufacturers’ directions, after 35% H3PO4 etching, (2) 5% NaOCl treated for 2 minutes, after 35% H3PO4 etching. Each sample was embedded in a Watanabe shear test assembly for a single plane lap shear. Af…

Differential copper impact on density, diversity and resistance of adapted culturable bacterial populations according to soil organic status

2010

International audience; The effect of copper on the abundance, diversity and resistance of viable heterotrophic and copper resistant bacterial populations (CuR) was evaluated in soils differing only by their amount and type of organic matter. These soils have been obtained using a vineyard soil that had been subjected to three different organic matter managements (Not Amended (NA) or amended with Straw (S) or Conifer Compost (CC)) in a long term field experiment. Soil microcosms were artificially contaminated with copper (250 mg Cu kg−1 of soil) and incubated for 35 days. Throughout the incubation, a differential copper impact on viable heterotrophic and CuR bacterial enumeration was demons…

Rearing of Prays citri on callus derived from lemon stigma and style culture

2000

A new method for rearing the citrus flower moth (Prays citri Mill.) (Lepidoptera, Yponomeutidae) on lemon [Citrus limon (L.) Burm.] callus is reported. In the present research callus (an undifferentiated mass of plant cells that can be grown under sterile conditions on an artificial medium in vitro) was induced from lemon stigma and style explants cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 500 mg l -1 malt extract, 13.3 μM 6-benzylaminopurine, and 146 mM sucrose. Also somatic embryogenesis and plant regeneration were obtained from the cultures of styles and stigmas of lemon. Adults were obtained from larvae on infested flowers collected in the field. Different oviposition…

LA VIABILITÀ MINORE NELLA SICILIA CENTRO-MERIDIONALE: IL COMPRENSORIO DI CIGNANA TRA LA VIA SELINUNTINA E LA CATINA-AGRIGENTUM

2021

This paper is aimed to analyze the ancient road system in a selected area of the Southern Sicily, between Agrigento and Licata (Cign…

Cloning and characterization of the promoter of Hugl-2, the human homologue of Drosophila lethal giant larvae (lgl) polarity gene.

2007

The human lgl gene, Hugl-2 (llgl2, Lgl2), codes for a cytoskeletal protein involved in regulating cell polarity. Here, we report the identification and functional characterization of the promoter region ( approximately 1.2kb) of the Hugl-2 gene. Luciferase expression assays show a high basal Hugl-2 promoter activity in different cell lines and primary human hepatocytes. Truncations of the promoter identified a GC-rich region important for this activity. Alignment of human and mouse genomic sequences demonstrate that this is an evolutionary conserved region fcontaining putative binding sites for several transcription factors including Elk-1 and Sp-1. Mithramycin A reduces Hugl-2 expression i…
