Insercijas secības (IS) ir transpozētspējīgas sekvences, dēļ kuras var notikt genomiskā pārkārtošanās, kā rezultātā var tikt aktivēti citi gēni. Baktērijās šis fenomens ļauj aktivizēt antibiotiku rezistences kodējošos gēnus. Šī darba mērķis bija noskaidrot cat gēna transkripcijas starta saitu jeb +1 RNS plazmīdās ar dažādu IS10H lokalizāciju, vienlaikus optimizējot Rapid Amplification of cDNA Ends (RACE) metodi. Tika izmantoti Escherichia coli celmi, kas bija transformēti ar plazmīdu DNS. No transformantiem tika izdalīta mRNS ar kuru tika veikta RACE metode. Volatiles and contact pheromones involved in the mating behaviour of the Painted bug, Bagrada hilaris Burmeister (Het- eroptera: Pentatomidae), were investigated in behavioural and chemical experiments. Vertical open Y-shaped olfactometer bioassays showed that odour from males attract females but not males, while that from females did not attract either gender. Adult females were also attracted by hexane extracts of volatile compounds collected from males. In open arena bioassays, males displayed the characteristic steps of courtship behaviour in the presence of virgin females. Central venous catheters (CVCs) in neonates are associated with a risk of central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI). Most reports on the incidence of CLABSI in neonates focus on umbilical venous catheters (UVCs) and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs). We evaluated the incidence and risk factors for CLABSI in a cohort of neonates with femoral venous catheters (FVCs), UVCs, and PICCs, with a gestational age ≥34 weeks born between January 1, 2006 and June 30, 2013. AbstractThe pale-brown chafer, Phyllopertha diversa, utilizes an unusual alkaloid, 1,3-dimethyl-2,4-(1H,3H)-quinazolinedione, as its sex pheromone. This compound is rapidly degraded in vitro by the antennal protein extracts from this scarab beetle. Demethylation at the N-1 position and hydroxylation of the aromatic ring have been identified as the major catabolic pathways. The enzyme responsible for the pheromone degradation is membrane-bound, requires NAD(P)H for activity and is sensitive to cytochrome P450 inhibitors, such as proadifen and metyrapone.
