Authoritarian exclusion and laissez‐faire inclusion: Comparing the punishment of men convicted of sex offenses in England & Wales and Norway*
2021
Abstract: Comparative penologists have described neoliberal and social democratic jurisdictions as though they exist at opposite ends of a continuum of inclusion and exclusion, and as though neoliberal states are inactive and social democratic states are invasive. This article, which is based on more than 129 interviews with men convicted of sex offenses in England & Wales and Norway, uses Cohen's work on inclusion and McNeill's typology of rehabilitative forms to complicate this simplistic binary. It argues that the punishment of men convicted of sex offenses in England & Wales was demanding but exclusionary; it imposed strict legal restrictions on these men during and after their imprison…
Multiple solutions for a Neumann-type differential inclusion problem involving the p(.)-Laplacian
2012
Using a multiple critical points theorem for locally Lipschitz continuous functionals, we establish the existence of at least three distinct solutions for a Neumann-type differential inclusion problem involving the $p(\cdot)$-Laplacian.
Superconductive and insulating inclusions for linear and non-linear conductivity equations
2015
We detect an inclusion with infinite conductivity from boundary measurements represented by the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map for the conductivity equation. We use both the enclosure method and the probe method. We use the enclosure method to prove partial results when the underlying equation is the quasilinear $p$-Laplace equation. Further, we rigorously treat the forward problem for the partial differential equation $\operatorname{div}(\sigma\lvert\nabla u\rvert^{p-2}\nabla u)=0$ where the measurable conductivity $\sigma\colon\Omega\to[0,\infty]$ is zero or infinity in large sets and $1<p<\infty$.
Algebraic aspects and coherence conditions for conjoined and disjoined conditionals
2019
We deepen the study of conjoined and disjoined conditional events in the setting of coherence. These objects, differently from other approaches, are defined in the framework of conditional random quantities. We show that some well known properties, valid in the case of unconditional events, still hold in our approach to logical operations among conditional events. In particular we prove a decomposition formula and a related additive property. Then, we introduce the set of conditional constituents generated by $n$ conditional events and we show that they satisfy the basic properties valid in the case of unconditional events. We obtain a generalized inclusion-exclusion formula and we prove a …
Solvability of integrodifferential problems via fixed point theory in b-metric spaces
2015
The purpose of this paper is to study the existence of solutions set of integrodifferential problems in Banach spaces. We obtain our results by using fixed point theorems for multivalued mappings, under new contractive conditions, in the setting of complete b-metric spaces. Also, we present a data dependence theorem for the solutions set of fixed point problems.
Les pratiques d'enseignement différenciées et inclusives en SEGPA : enjeux et limites

El aula de comunicación y lenguaje y la inclusión escolar. Dificultades y estrategias de intervención / Communicatio classroomn and language and scho…
2016
This research shows a case study of two students schooled in the Communication and Language classroom of a Valencian school. The main goal is to understand the situation of inclusive education of these students. With this aim, it has collected information through record sheets, interviews, surveys, informal conversations and field journal that allowed us to do a qualitative analysis. We have described the difficulties that hinder the transition to ordinary classroom and we have analyzed the correspondence between intervention strategies of both classrooms. With these results, we reflect on the accomplishment of the goal of creating C&L classrooms: the progressive inclusion in ordinary class…
Oligophenylenevinylenes in Spatially Confined Nanochannels: Monitoring Intermolecular Interactions by UV/Vis and Raman Spectroscopy
2008
Perhydrotriphenylene-based channel-forming inclusion compounds (ICs) and thin films made of polyphenylenevinylene (PPV)-type oligomers with terminal alkoxy groups are investigated and compared in a combined experimental and theoretical approach. Interchromophore interactions and host-guest interactions are elucidated by UV/Vis and Raman spectroscopy. The impact of the local environment of the chromophore on the optical and photophysical properties is discussed in light of quantum-chemical calculations. In stark contrast to thin films where preferential side-by-side orientation leads to quenching of photoluminescence (PL) via non-emissive traps, the ICs are found to be attractive materials f…

Powder diffraction analysis of gemstone inclusions
2011
Gemstones are pieces of materials that once cut and polished are used as jewels or adornments. Gemstones may be single crystal (such as diamonds), polycrystalline (such as lapis lazuli), or amorphous (such as amber). In any case, gems may have inclusions that may yield a variety of optic effects. It is also important to unravel the crystal structure of the inclusion(s) in order to determine the origin of the gem and to help to understand their formation mechanism. Here, we expand the use of powder diffraction to identify crystalline inclusions in bulk gemstones highlighting Mo Kα radiation to penetrate within compact gems. Initially, rock crystal quartz with rutile needles was investigated …
