Statements About the Pervasiveness of Behavior Require Data About the Pervasiveness of Behavior
2020
Despite recent close attention to issues related to the reliability of psychological research (e.g., the replication crisis), issues of the validity of this research have not been considered to the same extent. This paper highlights an issue that calls into question the validity of the common research practice of studying samples of individuals, and using sample-based statistics to infer generalizations that are applied not only to the parent population, but to individuals. The lack of ergodicity in human data means that such generalizations are not justified. This problem is illustrated with respect to two common scenarios in psychological research that raise questions for the sorts of the…

The Neuroeducation perspective and individual learning specificities. A study
2022

2017
Autorka w niniejszym artykule zwraca uwagę na zjawisko i mechanizmy usprawiedliwiania własnego zachowania z perspektywy psychologii poznawczej, psychologii społecznej i koncepcji kryminologicznej Sykesa i Matzy. To prosta droga do przestępczości. Dlatego rolą pedagogów je s t niedopuszczenie by dzieci i młodzież uczyli się sprawnych technik neutralizacji.

Situational factors shape moral judgements in the trolley dilemma in Eastern, Southern and Western countries in a culturally diverse sample
2022
The study of moral judgements often centres on moral dilemmas in which options consistent with deontological perspectives (that is, emphasizing rules, individual rights and duties) are in conflict with options consistent with utilitarian judgements (that is, following the greater good based on consequences). Greene et al. (2009) showed that psychological and situational factors (for example, the intent of the agent or the presence of physical contact between the agent and the victim) can play an important role in moral dilemma judgements (for example, the trolley problem). Our knowledge is limited concerning both the universality of these effects outside the United States and the impact of …
