Improvement of Energy Efficiency for Indoor Lighting in a Big Shopping Center

As the progressive diffusion of shopping centers in Italy, the paper analysis the potential energy savings in the indoor lighting plant, thanks to new technologies as LED lamps and Building Automation System. The case study, applied to a big shopping mall in the middle of Italy, shows great results, thanks to the high efficiency of LED technology, high number of operating hours and the implementation of a control system. An economic and environmental evaluation is reported.

JOSI is a software framework that tries to simplify the development of such kinds of applications both by providing the possibility of working on models for representing such semantic information and by offering some implementations of such models that can be easily used by software developers without any knowledge about semantic models and languages. During the refereeing process of papers submitted to NAMRC 46 this year, nine high-quality papers have been selected and fast-tracked to a special issue of Journal of Manufacturing Processes (JMP) entitled “Advancing Manufacturing Processes Research at NAMRC 46”. The selection of the fast-track papers was based on authors’ preferences, quality of the papers, reviewers’ recommendations, Track Chairs’ picks, pre-selection by the Chair of NAMRI/SME Scientific Committee, and final approval by the JMP Editor. Abstract A reliable preliminary forecast of heating energy demand of a building by using a detailed dynamic simulation software typically requires an in-depth knowledge of the thermal balance, several input data and a very skilled user. On the use of artificial intelligence tools for fracture forecast in cold forming operations

Abstract The design of cold forming processes requires the availability of a procedure able to deal with the prevention of ductile fracture. In fact, the ability to predict fracture represents a powerful tool to improve the production quality in mechanical industry. In this paper, artificial intelligence (AI) techniques are applied to ductile fracture prediction in cold forming operations. The main advantage of the application of AI tools and in particular, of artificial neural networks (ANN), is the possibility to obtain a predictive tool with a wide applicability. The prediction results obtained in this paper fully demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed approach.
