Investigation of the elastic and inelastic scattering of 4He from 11B in the energy range 29-50.5 MeV
2018
We have measured the angular distributions for the elastic and inelastic scattering of 4He from 11B in the isochronous cyclotron U-150 M INP RK. The extracted α-particles beam has been accelerated to energy 29 MeV and then directed to 11B target. The experimental results were analyzed within the framework of both the optical model using different complex potential and the double folding potential obtained with different density-dependent NN interactions which give the corresponding values of the nuclear incompressibility K in the Hartree-Fock calculation of nuclear matter.
Study of the structure of the Hoyle state by refractive α-scattering
2014
α + 12C elastic and inelastic to the Hoyle state (0+ 2, 7.65 MeV) differential cross-sections were measured at the energies 60 and 65 MeV with the aim of testing the microscopic wave function [1] widely used in modern structure calculations of 12C. Deep rainbow (Airy) minima were observed in all four curves. The minima in the inelastic angular distributions are shifted to the larger angles relatively those in the elastic ones, which testify the radius enhancement of the Hoyle state. In general, the DWBA calculations failed to reproduce the details of the cross sections in the region of the rainbow minima in the inelastic scattering data. However, by using the phenomenological density with r…
Distribution of electric multipole strengths in58Ni
1983
Inelastic electron scattering of 124 and 180 MeV electrons from58Ni has been measured for momentum transfers of 0.4 fm−1≤q≤1.2 fm−1 with an energy resolution of 110 keV. Using DWBA form factors with Tassie transition densities, we have extracted the electric multipole strength forL≤4 residing in 28 discrete states and in the inelastic continuum below 22.5 MeV of excitation.
A general approach for the calculation of the energy levels and the inelastic neutron scattering cross-section of highly nuclear magnetic clusters
1997
Abstract We develop here a general approach to calculate in an efficient way the spin levels as well as the spin eigenfunctions and the INS intensities of clusters formed by large numbers of exchange-coupled magnetic metal ions. The approach is based on the successive use of the irreducible tensor operator techniques and takes into account all kinds of magnetic exchange interactions between the metal ions. The potentialities of this approach are illustrated from an example comprising nine exchange-coupled Ni (II) ions.
Recent progress on the calculation of three-loop heavy flavor Wilson coefficients in deep-inelastic scattering
2014
We report on our latest results in the calculation of the three-loop heavy flavor contributions to the Wilson coefficients in deep-inelastic scattering in the asymptotic region $Q^2 \gg m^2$. We discuss the different methods used to compute the required operator matrix elements and the corresponding Feynman integrals. These methods very recently allowed us to obtain a series of new operator matrix elements and Wilson coefficients like the flavor non-singlet and pure singlet Wilson coefficients.
Coulomb effects in three-body reactions with two charged particles
1978
We present the details of a novel approach to the treatment of Coulomb effects in atomic and nuclear reactions of the three-body type in which two of the particles are charged. Based on three-body integral equations the formalism allows the practical calculation of elastic, inelastic, rearrangement, and breakup processes with full inclusion of the Coulomb repulsion or attraction in a mathematically correct way. No restrictions need to be made concerning the form of the short-range interactions between the three pairs. A particular virtue of our method lies in the fact that it corroborates, and gives precise meaning to, the intuitively anticipated conception of how to describe such reactions.
Radiochemical study of the kinematics of multi-nucleon transfer reactions in 48Ca + 248Cm collisions 10% above the Coulomb barrier
2017
Abstract The kinematics of multi-nucleon transfer reactions in 48Ca + 248Cm collisions at 262 MeV (center of target) was investigated by using a stacked-foil technique and radiochemical separations of trans-curium elements. Trans-curium isotopes were identified by α-particle spectroscopy. For Fm isotopes, by comparing the centroids of the measured post-neutron emission isotope distributions with the most probable primary mass number predicted by Volkov's generalized Q g g systematics, the missing mass (number of evaporated neutrons) is estimated. The latter is compared with that deduced from the measured centroid of the laboratory angular distribution peaked closely to the grazing angle and…
Nonquenched Isoscalar Spin-M1Excitations insd-Shell Nuclei
2015
Differential cross sections of isoscalar and isovector spin-M1 (0(+)→1(+)) transitions are measured using high-energy-resolution proton inelastic scattering at E(p)=295 MeV on (24)Mg, (28)Si, (32)S, and (36)Ar at 0°-14°. The squared spin-M1 nuclear transition matrix elements are deduced from the measured differential cross sections by applying empirically determined unit cross sections based on the assumption of isospin symmetry. The ratios of the squared nuclear matrix elements accumulated up to E(x)=16 MeV compared to a shell-model prediction are 1.01(9) for isoscalar and 0.61(6) for isovector spin-M1 transitions, respectively. Thus, no quenching is observed for isoscalar spin-M1 transi…
Magnetic order in a Kondo lattice: A neutron scattering study of CeCu2Ge2
1989
Elastic and inelastic neutron scattering studies of the Kondo lattice CeCu2Ge2 were performed. AtTN=4.1 K an incommensurate magnetic order develops with an ordering wave vectorq0=(0.28, 0.28, 0.54) and an ordered moment µs=0.74 µB. The crystalline electric field splits the 4f1-J-multiplet of the Ce ion into a ground state doublet and a quartet at 191 K. The wave function of the ground state yields an ordered moment of 1.54µB. Thus, due to the onset of the formation of a Kondo singlet the magnetic moment is considerably reduced. The magnetic relaxation rate Λ was investigated via quasielastic neutron scattering. The temperature dependence of Λ(T) is characteristic of heavy-fermion systems wi…
Diffractive dijet production from the Color Glass Condensate and the small-x gluon distributions
2019
We study exclusive dijet production in electron-proton deep inelastic scattering at a future Electron Ion Collider. We predict the elliptic modulation of the cross section as a function of the angle between the dijet transverse momentum and the recoil momentum, and show that this modulation is due to non-trivial angular correlations between the transverse coordinate and transverse momentum in the Wigner (or Husimi) distribution. The small-$x$ evolution is shown to decrease the elliptic modulation in the EIC kinematics, because of the growth of the proton with decreasing $x$.
